Your Responsibilities

 

The Vice President of Manufacturing, as a member of the Bachem Americas, Inc. Leadership Team, fulfills a critical role in the end to end manufacturing and supply of commercial APIs to our customers. The Vice President supports all Manufacturing activities, and is responsible for optimization of the Manufacturing business process, strategies and implementation of regulatory activities. The Vice President is responsible for the development of the Department to maximize the effectiveness of the Manufacturing team and provides a positive impact on the Departments interactions with customers and internal stakeholders to achieve the business needs of Bachem and its customers.

 

Your Tasks

 

  • Oversees all aspects of the GMP Manufacturing processes including planning & scheduling, resource utilization, team dynamics and performance, budgeting, cost estimation and control while modeling professionalism and culture.

  • Works with functional leadership to ensure successful technology transferring, execution of API commercialization, manufacturing and testing strategy.

  • Work with key external partners, including executive leaders of key sponsors and alliance partners

  • Stay abreast of developing new technologies and manufacturing procedures and pursue continuous improvement throughout the organization to reach business and operational excellence. Actively address challenges, seek and implement new methods and solutions.

  • Focus on continuous improvement, automation and lean manufacturing of cGMP.

  • Reviews and communicates to Manufacturing team regarding delivery goals and standards, safety, and quality.

  • Recognized process context, sees own role as part of the whole and acts accordingly.

  • Creates an environment that inspires and supports change initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness.

  • Build organizational capability across internal and external Technical Operations.

  • Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.

  • Collaborates with the Site Manager with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced manufacturing plans.

  • Organizes departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations ensuring the highest level of Quality and Compliance of cGMP regulations

  • Focus on achieving results as defined by agreed upon annual goals.

  • Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.

  • Partners with Site Leadership for Annual Capital Expenditures for equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.

  • Approaches challenges with creativity, collaboration and willingness to learn.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. Provides leadership to the Manufacturing department at Bachem Americas, Inc.

  • Support, directs and monitors Manufacturing leadership in the recruitment, hiring, training and retention of manufacturing employees.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

  • Delegates task, competencies and responsibilities according to the team member’s level of capability.

  • Effectively communicates with all team members at all levels of the organization, ensuring respect and esteem are maintained.

  • Initiates communication, listens attentively and successfully manages difficult conversations.

  • Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills

  • Support and direct Manufacturing leadership in handing discipline and termination of team members as needed and in accordance with company policy.

 

Your Profile

 

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 7 to 10 years’ experience in a GMP production environment or

  • Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience in a GMP production environment

  • High competence in new trends and emerging technologies in drug manufacturing

  • Minimum of 7 years’ managerial experience, with a minimum of 5-years’ experience managing a significant production segment of an API manufacturer or contract drug manufacturing organization.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems and to eliminate the cause in a sustainable matter

  • At least ten years of experience in industrial management required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational and managerial skills.

  • Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in the manufacturing division.

  • Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.

  • Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.

  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner in a team environment, including keeping management aware of potential issues

 

Salary Range: $ 179,000 - $224,000

 

Placement of new hires in the wage range is based on several factors including education, skill sets, experience, and training.
