Position Overview
Thought Leader Engagement (TLE) serves as a field-based position responsible for building industry leading relationships with Hematology-Oncology Key Opinion Leaders and Key Account Leaders within a defined geography. The focus of the TLE engagements is to gain market insights, uncover marketing opportunities, and develop product advocacy. The TLE is responsible for all KOL-related commercial activities, including congresses, promotional peer-to-peer educational initiatives, speaker programs and advisory boards. This role serves as a liaison between home office-based departments, field-based colleagues and health care professionals who are leaders in their respective fields and is the primary commercial representative of Ipsen to these leaders on both on a regional and national level.
This position will support and coordinate the development of peer to peer tactics associated with our three Oncology brands, Tazverik®, Somatuline® Depot and Onivyde® as well as potential future Oncology brands.
The candidate will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to effectively align with the members of the extended Ipsen team. This role requires the ability to understand hematology and oncology at a level that can support conversations with thought leaders. The TLE will need superior organizational skills in order to support communicating our internal activities as well as organizing the thought leader’s exposure to our partners such as speaker bureaus and advisory event planners.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute engagement plans to collaborate with KOLs to ensure TAZVERIK®, Somatuline®, and Onivyde® messaging is aligned with Ipsen brand goals
Develop and implement a strategy to drive KOL advocacy for TAZVERIK® ®, Somatuline®, and Onivyde®; gather insights to advance brand strategies and deliver business results
Develop, coordinate, and execute a strategic plan for congress and professional society meetings and support customer meetings at all major conferences for senior leadership team
Lead in the design, recruitment, and execution of advisory boards
Function as a field member of the marketing team, collaborating with sales, value & access, legal, regulatory, medical affairs, senior management, and other teams to further core TLE responsibilities and present One Ipsen experience
Effectively translate scientific, clinical, and market research into actionable commercial educational programs
Create awareness of new Ipsen projects including new disease states, promotional data availability, and new indications with key opinion leaders
Lead the relationship, priorities, execution and budget management with key educational/marketing agency partners supporting TLE activities
Requirements & Core Competencies
BA/BS degree in a related field is required
5+ years’ experience within Oncology sales
8+ Years of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
Experience with cross functional and internal pharmaceutical teams is desired, including marketing, training, access or medical affairs
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, effectively manage competing priorities, and provide strong communication/deadline pull-thru with internal stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to communicate with key external stakeholders and actively represent the company, brand teams, and discuss key therapeutic areas
Demonstrated ability to achieve key milestones and business objectives working with peers and colleagues with and without direct authority
Approximately 60% travel is required
Excellent written and verbal English communications skills; ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels of the organization; strong presentation skills required.
Demonstrated strong organization skills: time management and project management.
