Postdoctoral Fellow Oncology Research

Live

What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. During this program, you will be provided with an enriching environment to inspire innovation that will contribute to the development of human therapeutics

The labs of Dr. Deepali Sawant and Dr. Matthew Chun in the Oncology Department at Amgen are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with expertise in immuno-oncology to perform cutting-edge research designed to characterize the molecular mechanisms underlying T cell engager (TCE) activity for treatment of solid tumors. The candidate will design and perform experiments with the aim of understanding the impact of TCE target engagement on T cell fate and function. To address these questions, the postdoctoral fellow will use techniques such as single-cell sequencing, epigenomics, and metabolomics to profile T cell transcriptional and metabolic fate following TCE treatment, following up with in vitro and in vivo functional assays. Example topics of interest include characterizing the impact of cytokines and co-stimulation on T cell fitness and exhaustion in response to TCE engagement (see Belmontes, B., et al. Sci Transl Med. 2021. 13(608):eabd1524 for additional background).

During their tenure, the postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged and expected to develop an independent line of research based on initial studies and to present at scientific conferences and publish in leading journals. The chosen candidate will also have opportunities to interact with other postdoctoral fellows, scientists, and drug discovery teams throughout the Amgen community. The candidate will receive co-mentorship from two senior members of the Oncology Department and will have access to state-of-the-art technologies and resources including advanced Next Gen omics capabilities, human genetics, and in vitro and in vivo models.

The postdoctoral position is for 3 years with the option to extend for an additional year.
