The Role:

Moderna is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Associate (SRA) to join the High-throughput analytical testing team at their Norwood, MA site. The individual in this role will perform analytical assays for quality control (capillary electrophoresis, LC-MS, HPLC/UPLC, pH, Osmolality, Dynamic light scattering, RT-PCR), using high-throughput technologies, to support release of mRNA and encapsulated mRNA materials manufactured in the High-throughput Operations manufacturing group. The individual will be cross trained and will establish an in-depth understanding of the QC assays and support release of material, participate in troubleshooting and in transferring in new analytical methods, all to support HTOps QC.

Heres What Youll Do:

As an SRA that is part of the HTOps QC team, your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Be a HTOps QC testing team member and subject matter expert

  • Operate and maintain testing equipment such as Hamilton aliquoting systems, LCs and plate readers

  • Prepare samples and perform analytical testing of R&D product leveraging high throughput/liquid handling technologies

  • Perform data entry, data analysis, analyze Sanger sequencing and peer data review

  • Understand basic method and laboratory equipment troubleshooting

  • Aid in adapting new protocols into practice

  • Support investigations, present findings in cross-functional meetings

  • Deliver reproducible and impactful results under accelerated timelines

  • Write/revise SOPs, protocols, and reports

  • Practice safe work habits and adhere to Moderna safety procedures and guidelines

  • Other responsibilities as needed

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

  • A BS with 2-5 years of relevant industry experience

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to work independently in a highly dynamic environment

  • Ability to multi-task and meet aggressive timelines, and technology development and research goals

  • Familiarity with analytical techniques to evaluate nucleic acids, separation techniques (UPLC, HPLC, LC/MS, CE)

  • Preferred but not required, experience using robotic liquid handlers
