Research Associate

Overview:

Sherlock Biosciences is dedicated to providing global access to the simplest and most accurate diagnostic tests that empower individuals to control their own healthcare. We are creating a new generation of CRISPR and Synthetic Biology-based molecular diagnostic technology platforms that can rapidly deliver accurate and inexpensive results in any setting. The Research Associate will work closely with our Scientists to develop, conduct, and analyze biochemical and molecular biology experiments to support our CRISPR and Synthetic Biology-based platforms for molecular diagnostics.

 Essential Functions:

• Assist in the feasibility, development, verification, validation, and technology transfer of molecular diagnostic assays.
• Conduct laboratory experiments and studies according to protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instruction Documents (WIDs).
• Communicate regularly with supervisor to relay experiment results and data analysis.
• Adhere to and follow processes and procedures such as documenting, recording, and completing work in electronic laboratory notebooks.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory with supervision.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• NA

Work Environment:

• This position will work in the office and the lab. Work with BSL-2 level pathogens may be required. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in the lab.

Physical Demands:.

• Long periods of sitting or standing.
• Must be capable of working in a lab environment for at least 40 hours/week.
• Must wear a mask when required.

Required Education and Experience: 

• BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related discipline.  0-2+ years experience is desired.
• Requires knowledge and laboratory experience with common molecular biology techniques.
• Requires working knowledge of nucleic acid extraction and amplification methods.
• Must be familiar with aseptic techniques.

• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
