General Description
The Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for the operational leadership and management of clinical studies and the management of Clinical Operations managers and assistants. The Director oversees study operational strategy and tactical planning working collaboratively across multiple teams.
Key areas of focus include technical, content and management expertise to lead teams and complex studies executed within Clinical Operations. The Director works closely with external customers and vendors, developing relationships that enhance issue resolution for the clinical studies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Align business and clinical operations objectives across multiple project teams.
- Support the execution of clinical operations strategies and implementation of new processes and systems.
- Provide operational expertise in the development of the overall strategy and objectives of clinical plans and assume accountability for the timely execution of multiple programs across therapeutic areas.
- Serve as mentor and coach to team members. Manage and assess the performance of direct reports.
- Monitor the progress of projects and provide senior management with timely updates, changes in scope and resource requirements across the clinical studies portfolio.
- Influence work processes spanning multiple department and geographic boundaries.
- Lead problem solving and solution discussions.
Education/Experience/Skills
- Advanced scientific degree
- A minimum of 10 years of experience overseeing Clinical Operations.
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and management skills
- A thorough understanding of the FDA, EMA, ICH, HIPPA, PhRMA, GCP and other global regulatory/ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and clinical trial conduct.
- Must to able to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
