Principal Scientist, Formulation Development (AAV, Gene Therapy)

Regeneron is seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist within the Formulation Development Group (FDG). We lead all formulation and drug product development for Regeneron’s Genetic Medicine programs, in particular Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) programs, to move the genetic medicine drug assets from research to preclinical development, clinical development and all the way to commercialization.  You will also carry out research on new formulation development and characterization of novel AAV vectors.

 A Typical Day May Look Like:

• Lead FDG activities for gene therapy programs, e.g. AAV, in collaboration with analytical and drug product process development and other cross-functional teams
• Serve as a program lead and subject matter expert at the cross-functional research, CMC and program teams
• Design and implement biochemical and biophysical characterization and pre-formulation studies to support evaluation of preclinical drug candidates and developing preclinical and first-in-human (FIH) formulations
• Independently design, complete and document stability studies and other experiments for FDG
• Seek out, recognize and assess new technologies to improve formulation development and analytical characterization
• Lead research activities toward developing new formulations and characterizing critical quality attributes and stabilities for novel AAV vectors
• Author and review formulation development sections of regulatory and technical documents, study reports and technology transfer documents

This Role May Be for You If:

• You have prior experience and strong technical knowledge working with viral vectors such as AAV, Lentivirus or other retrovirus vectors for gene and cell therapy products.
• You have hands-on experience and trouble-shooting proficiency with analytical and characterization techniques for biomolecules, such as column chromatography (HPLC/UPLC), capillary electrophoresis and/or biophysical techniques
• You have a passion for science with a motivation for making contributions and thrive in fast-paced team environment.
• You are capable of multi-tasking, working both independently and within a team environment.

To be considered for this role, you must have a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant industry experience, or a BS/MS + 11 relevant years experience. Must have experience in AAV or Gene Therapy.

Salary Range (annually)

$121,200.00 - $197,800.00
