The Role:

Moderna is seeking an Engineer II for the High-throughput Technology Development (HTD) team based at our Norwood, Massachusetts site. The HTD team supports the development of innovative medicines and cutting-edge technologies through the design and construction of integrated high-throughput experiences for Modernas engineers and scientists. The candidate will be part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team of engineers and scientists where communication skills and an attention to detail are vital to team achievement. An effective applicant must be fearless in the successful completion of program goals.

Heres What Youll Do:

  • Contribute to the design and assembly of integrated high-throughput systems for Technology Development teams with an emphasis on establishing scalable/ transferable processes for producing high quality material.

  • Routinely operate liquid handling instrumentation (Hamilton, Tecan, Gilson, etc.)

  • Learn the workflows of technical teams by shadowing lab scientists from representative functional groups

  • Team representative to greater Moderna digital team for automation equipment integration and software integration

  • Assist with data management and analysis of complex data while contributing to the advancement of Modernas therapeutic platforms

  • Integrate laboratory instrumentation with LIMS and inventory management systems

  • Works towards future scalability

  • Provide mentorship to peers work toward an efficiently cross trained team

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

  • BS/BA (required) in Chemistry, Systems, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, or closely related field with 2-5 years related experience

  • Experience in scripting method for OEM robotic systems with a strong preference for Hamilton and Tecan systems.

  • Experience with API development for various automation systems

  • Experience collaborating with digital and scientific teams for UX/UI development

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a highly dynamic environment

  • A limitless curiosity enabling quick mastery of new techniques and concepts

  • Ability to multi-task to meet timelines and relentless in pursuing successful outcomes

  • Exceptional written and oral communication

  • Relevant industry or academic lab experience is preferred
