Job Description:
Summary/Objective:

The Research Associate will work closely with our Scientists to develop, conduct, and analyze biochemical and molecular biology experiments to support our CRISPR and Synthetic Biology-based platforms for molecular diagnostics.

 Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the development, verification, validation, and technology transfer of molecular diagnostic assays.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments and studies according to approved protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instruction Documents (WIDs).
  • Assist in authoring SOPs, WIDs for developed processes.
  • Perform experiments to improve assay performance and robustness.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor to relay project progress, experiment results, and data analysis; openly and thoughtfully discuss challenges.
  • Present to internal teams in a concise, cohesive manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • NA

Work Environment:

  • This position will work in the office and the lab. Work with BSL-2 level pathogens may be required. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in the lab.

Physical Demands:.

  • Long periods of sitting or standing.
  • Must be capable of working in a lab environment for at least 40 hours/week.
  • Must wear a mask when required.

 Travel Required:

Required Education and Experience: 

  • BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field with at least 1 year of research experience in an industry/professional setting. MS with 2+ years research experience is desired.
  • Knowledge and laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques, including qPCR and/or other nucleic acid amplification methods.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills related to nucleic acid characterization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
