We are currently looking to add a Molecular Production Technician II to our team in St. Cloud, MN.   In this role you will lead, perform, and report on inactivated material enumeration by multiple PCR and flow cytometry techniques using microbiology, molecular, and other applicable methodologies. Generally required to apply education and work experience to conduct focused in-process product testing and troubleshooting thoughtfully, collaboratively, and efficiently with high integrity. Assist with manufacturing of routine molecular product line in addition to other duties listed below. Serves as a back-up to the Molecular Production Lead. 

 

What can I expect in this role?

In this position, you will work 7 am – 4:00 pm Monday thru Thursday, and 7 am – 12  pm on Friday.  

 

 Some key duties in this role include:

  • Performs molecular retail product manufacturing on a regular rotation.
  • Skilled in use of lyophilizers under company procedures.
  • Performs inactivated raw material enumeration using qPCR, ddPCR and CytoFLEX platforms, and provides results in a timely manner to Molecular Production Scheduler and Lead.
  • Compiles data for analysis of enumerations according to defined SOPs, analysis forms, and software, and keeps up with any updates to such platforms.
  • Responsible for general maintenance of equipment in the Molecular Production PCR suite and general upkeep of equipment involved in qualifications per relevant SOPs.
  • Performs in-process seed vial testing on various in-house PCR based platforms.
  • Researches and investigates retail product failures under the supervision of the Molecular Production Lead and Manager.
  • Performs microbiology techniques including microbial culture, enumeration, isolation, and identification using traditional and rapid methods.
  • Assist in seed vial and stock production on a regular rotation.
  • Performs molecular biology techniques including PCR, nucleic acid quantitation, nucleic acid isolation and trains with R&D as needed.
  • Assist department lead and manager with identifying back-up suppliers as needed to prevent disruption to retail production.

Here is what we are looking for:

  • Four (4) year degree in relevant field (e.g., biology, microbiology, virology, cell biology, molecular biology, food science, bioengineering) required.
  • 0-2 years of related work experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or product development environment.  
  • Technical understanding and some hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques. Experience with multiple commercial diagnostic platforms preferred.
  • Ability to independently design and perform experiments and analyze data.
  • Self-driven, collaborative, and flexible in an environment of changing demands and priorities.
  • Skilled in basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, assay design).
  • Proficient with aseptic technique, basic chemistry techniques, and formulations.
  • The ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
