Job Description

We are looking for a passionate lab manager to coordinate and manage all lab activities in Inflammation/Fibrosis Labs and Sequencing Core lab. The successful candidate will work closely with 30+ lab members, lab operations, EHS, Facilities, IT and others to ensure smooth functioning of our modern lab space. He or she will promote best lab practices to enable collaborative and organized work environment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs bread range of laboratory management activities for Inflammation, Fibrosis and Sequencing Core labs.
  • Coordinates with lab members, lab operations and facilities for all shared laboratory equipment needs such as purchasing, installation, trainings, maintenance and repairs. Maintains equipment calendars, sets use rules etc.
  • Plans and manages shared storage and lab spaces including TC rooms, cold rooms, freezers, fridges.
  • Coordinates maintenance and calibration and cleaning for lab instruments. Writes SOPs for instrument maintenance tasks. Stocks consumables/reagents for rooms and instruments.
  • Coordinates on-boarding and off-boarding of lab personnel. Supervises, instructs, and coaches team members in technical, project management and analytical skills.
  • Participates in preparation and review of Facilities/EH&S Laboratory Operations policies and procedures. Maintains site compliance documentation and investigates and responds to compliance problems and complaints received from lab members, agencies, or EH&S. Prepares for lab safety inspections. Communicates EHS policy update, ensures compliance if needed.
  • Directs team activities, multiple projects of significant complexity and risk, adhering to schedule, budget and resource requirements.
  • Provides experimental support for pipeline projects, may lead biology tasks withing the project teams.
  • Manages inventory of an off-site animal colony (no hand-on animal work required)
  • Collaborates with the Scientists and Senior Management on the tactical planning for the team. Consults with senior management for guidance when appropriate.


Required Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of EH&S safety requirements required for the particular site.
  • Experience with laboratory operational management in a support function.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience with a BA or BSc degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a MS degree,
  • Includes 2 years of relevant research experience/experience working with relevant equipment and researchers
