Job Description

Summary/Objective:

The Test Engineering Associate will be responsible for testing, calibrating, prototyping, and assembly of a novel diagnostic platform. The role supports the product development team in a broad range of areas including device troubleshooting, cartridge assembly, testing circuits and prototypes, and establishing test protocols. The successful candidate must possess advanced knowledge in a particular field of engineering and have experience driving the completion of projects of high complexity, ideally in FDA regulated environments. The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, including the ability to evaluate, prioritize, and handle multiple subprojects and priorities. The candidate must have a hands-on approach, including the experiences to fabricate, assemble, and test prototypes.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts engineering tests on prototype devices and create data summaries
  • Follow written procedures in the assembly of plastic/polymer medical diagnostic prototypes
  • Maintains batch records for various assemblies
  • Maintain inventory records of raw materials and finished prototypes
  • Records and reports problems with quality, process, equipment
  • Recommend improvements to processes as necessary
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacture
  • Cross train other individuals in processes as necessary
  • Sets up experimental test apparatuses, materials, and data acquisition with minimal supervision

Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands require the ability to lift 25 lbs.

 Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates or greater technical degree in engineering field
  • 3-8 years industry experience
  • Ability to use electronic test equipment such as an oscilloscope and other test devices
  • Well organized, detail oriented
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience assembling small devices with tools
  • Experience working with assemblies in a glove box or similar equipment preferred
  • Experience working in a 5S environment preferred
  • Medical device or other regulated industry experience a plus
  • Start-up R&D environment experience preferred
  • Experience with fluid handling using pipettes and similar laboratory tools preferred
  • Hands-on experience building and testing electromechanical systems including electronic, measurement, software, fluidic, optical, and thermal control subsystems
