Position Summary:

The Director/Sr Director of Sourcing and Vendor Management is accountable for key activities related to sourcing, selection, and management of service providers in support of required services for all AnaptysBio stakeholders. Emphasis is placed on vendor outsourcing, negotiation of business and financial terms of contracts, and management of service providers across the organization. The Associate Director/Director will work closely with internal stakeholders across the organization to develop strong relationships and drive consistency in how services are contracted/outsourced. The position requires a strategic individual capable of appropriately setting internal stakeholders’ expectations and working proactively and overseeing interactions with service providers across multiple disciplines. This individual will liaise with internal functional experts to monitor the quality of services provided and will deliver feedback to service providers and manage relationships. The Associate Director/Director will serve as the subject matter expert within the business and in collaboration with internal stakeholders influence the strategic direction on how AnaptysBio leverages service providers. The individual will participate in the development of processes, procedures, and guidelines to meet both short- and long-term goals for sourcing and vendor management. The Associate Director/Director will lead the establishing of preferred provider relationships with select vendors with expected benefits of cost savings and process efficiency, when appropriate. 

Requirements

Essential Functions:

Planning, Execution & Management:

· Responsible for all activities associated with the initiation and negotiation of business and financial terms of contracts for any services required by internal stakeholders (Clinical Operations, Medical Writing, Clinical Supplies, Clinical Development, Data Management and Statistics, CMC, Research, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, etc.), ensuring compliance with project and/or study specifications (i.e., timelines, deliverables, budgets) and applicable SOPs

· Oversee the preparation of project specific proposals (i.e., Request for Proposals) where applicable; manage and influence vendor selection, negotiations, and benchmarking

· Develops and implements sourcing strategies to support given scope delivering quantitative value through cost savings and   transformation/innovation

· Ensure the vendor selection process is compliant by managing risks through benchmarking, rate negotiations, implementing the sourcing strategy, and collaborating with cross functional teams

· Efficiently utilize the request-for-proposal process (including vendor identification, evaluation, and selection) for service provider needs for the organization 

· Review business and financial terms of major contracts and act as an expert resource to the internal teams through the   process of analyzing complex budget scenarios, bids, and outsourcing models to determine best value and best fit 

· Oversee vendor relationships and vendor performance (including financial relationship management) to ensure compliance against contracted services for outsourced work and escalate issues, as appropriate

· Develop strategies for optimization of timelines and costs across projects through developing preferred partnerships with various service providers for functions supported (e.g., CROs, central labs, CMOs)

Financial Management:

· Manage and lead the negotiation process for business and financial terms of contracts across the entire life cycle including RFI, vendor identification, RFP, vendor selection decision, contracting negotiation (including detailed and complex scopes of work,   exhibits, payment terms, etc.), performance monitoring, change orders, and ensure proper closeout of contracts to maximize contract value and achieve target savings

· Independently manage negotiation of payment terms and schedules, invoice review and required approvals based on contracted activity and spend, tracking to budget/plan, escalation, and resolution of payment issues; liaise with Finance to ensure alignment within the organization.

· Partner with Accounting to ensure service provider invoices are paid on-time 

Continuous Improvement: 

· Work with Quality and Legal on any appropriate revisions to relevant SOPs, templates, and processes

     

Education and Experience:

· Minimum of 10 years of experience in clinical research & development environment or comparable applicable experience;   understanding of clinical research terminology, best business practices, processes, timeline and key budget drivers in addition to experience in other areas of the pharmaceutical business (i.e. Research, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing)

· Procurement expertise (clinical research or other services relating to biotech/pharmaceuticals)

· Contract management and negotiation experience required (business and financial terms and conditions)

· Sound background in financial/controlling issues

· Previous experience working with CROs and other key service providers is preferred

Knowledge and Competencies:

· Identifies, develops, and deploys best practices in vendor selection, cost containment, and category management practices

· Leverages prior experience with external benchmarking, industry best practices, and technology for continuous improvement

· Ability to understand, analyze and develop recommendations from multiple complex sources such as financial and operational perspectives

· Ability to build strong relationships with external parties, such as key opinion leaders and clinical investigators

· Ability to communicate well and work cooperatively and efficiently cross functionally across all areas of the organization

· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the capacity to organize assignments and work within deadlines

· Experience in providing thought leadership and consistent customer service

· Expertise in the end-to-end sourcing and contracting process, including RFx, negotiation of business and financial terms of contracts, and contract management

· Financial acumen to review, analyze, and understand cost drivers of complex budgets
