Software Engineer, DevOps Automation

PacBio (NASDAQ: PACB) is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in the Platform Engineering and Software Deployment group and help create world class DNA sequencing platforms for life science researchers and human health applications.
In this role, you will automate the continuous integration and deployment of cutting-edge DNA sequencers. This individual will work closely with multiple software teams and support them. For this role, the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment will be critical.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Design installation and upgrades for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), including bare metal servers, virtual environments, edge devices, and embedded systems.
• Create self-service tools for software teams to control their test automation, branching, and deployment needs and improve their flow.
• Incorporating new capabilities into existing software development infrastructure.
• Manage build and test automation scripting and configuration in Bamboo with a fleet of virtual machines.
• Writing testable, cross-platform code.

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• Familiarity in automating system and application lifecycles.
• Coding and scripting (python, ruby, etc.) skills for automation.
• Ability to clearly articulate design and implementation choices.
• Comfort with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment.
• Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across teams.
