The Computational Genomics group, which is part of Translational Bioinformatics in Informatics & Predictive Sciences, is made up of both scientists and engineers, who help advance Bristol-Myers Squibb’s industry-leading pipeline in multiple therapeutic areas (including Immuno-Oncology, Cardiovascular, Fibrosis, and Immunoscience) through the strategic application of cutting-edge bioinformatics approaches. Computational Genomics interacts with and influences all aspects of R&D at BMS, from early discovery through late-stage clinical development.

The scientists in Computational Genomics work with other groups to analyze real-world health data, design experiments and analyze both pre-clinical and clinical -omics data sets, including RNA-Seq, Exome, Whole Genome, single-cell sequencing and high-throughput proteomics to help nominate novel drug targets, enable patient enrichment strategies and guide drug development decisions.The Computational Genomics group also works with scientists across the organization to help develop and maintain the NGS pipelines and infrastructure necessary to support the scientific programs.

We are seeking an innovative scientist to join our Computational Genomics group.Ideally, the individual for this role would be able to function as an independent scientist in new method development to support ongoing scientific research as well as deploy and maintain pipelines across various platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain various CWL-based NGS pipelines used for both R&D and clinical applications.
  • Develop and maintain NGS infrastructure to support our in-house CWL framework and downstream data warehouses.
  • Establish best practices for various NGS-based workflows.
  • Collaborate/Partner with scientists across the organization to integrate NGS data to advance scientific programs.
  • Communicate NGS best practices across all relevant teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or another relevant field and 5+ years of academic / industry experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or another relevant field 3+ years of academic / industry experience

  • OR PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or another relevant field - No experience required

Skills/Qualifications Required:

  • Experience with CWL-based NGS workflows (including CWL and Docker)
  • Common NGS tools (samtools, picard, gatk, etc)
  • Fluent with Linux-based environments (bash), R, Python, git version control and other collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, and rigorous and creative thinking
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to explain complex ideas to computational scientists, experimentalists, and clinicians

Skills/Qualifications Preferred:

  • Data visualization with R/Bioconductor
  • Some statistics background
  • Machine learning (ML)
  • AWS cloud computing

The starting compensation for this jobis a range from $97,000-$135,0000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and the where the job is performed.

Final individual compensation will be decidedbased on demonstratedexperience.
