Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, this position will be the subject matter expert (SME) for electrical engineering for Moderna. The candidate will lead electrical engineering for pharmaceutical facilities throughout the Moderna global organization. Additionally, candidate will also play an active role in providing guidance to existing facilities and laboratories.
Heres What Youll Do:
Responsible for utility specification development.
Provide technical engineering support to develop scope of work, project execution plans, and associated engineering studies for equipment / component installation, modification, replacement, in accordance with site specifications.
Strong knowledge of industry standards and guidelines such as ISPE Baseline Guides, USP, EU GMP, ISO standards and CFRs.
Review and upgrade project specifications and drawings for electrical construction work. Work with representatives, architects, and consultant engineers to develop optimum cost and benefits to the utility and building systems for new construction and renovation projects.
Assist with implementing strategies and methods that improve preventive maintenance processes and procedures resulting in enhanced equipment performance.
Provide technical support for equipment and process improvement initiatives using good engineering practices, simple & advanced problem-solving techniques.
Perform/support a variety of Field and Customer activities including data collection, one-line revisions, and electrical system analysis.
Drive Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), with good engineering practices and problem solving techniques.
Support proactive reliability assessments including data collection, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), HAZOP analysis and process improvement initiatives. Leverage data to optimize PM plans and materials of construction for robust asset performance.
Provide good judgment and innovation by utilizing and adapting a broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience.
Lead and coordinate Facility / Utility Shutdown efforts to complete planned preventive / corrective maintenance and capital projects to improve asset reliability.
Plan, conduct and technically direct projects or the major phases of significant projects.
Coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff.
Conduct investigations or test of considerable complexity pertaining to the development of new designs, methods and materials.
Review literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
Recommend corrections in technical analysis and design.
Evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.
Provide technical consultation to other organizations and work leadership for junior engineers.
Assists in establishing an efficient project schedule for project team that ensures appropriate use of resources while adhering to aggressive deadlines.

Bachelors degree in an engineering field required.
Masters degree preferred.
Minimum 12 years of Facilities and/or Engineering experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries required.
Minimum 7 years of experience leading a design team.
Comprehension of practical applications of engineering science and technology.
Expert use of analytical and CAD software.
Requires expert knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
