Sr. Staff Scientist, New Technologies (Lipid Nanoparticles)

We are seeking a highly motivated Sr Staff Scientist in the New Technology Group within the Formulation Development Group (FDG) of Regeneron Pharmaceutical Inc. The New Technology Group in FDG supports development of novel technologies, platforms & modalities and impacts key therapeutic areas such as ophthalmology, infectious diseases, oncology, and immunology.

The Sr. Staff Scientist provides scientific direction, strategy, and leadership for product development activities on LNP-based technology build initiatives within the FDG.

We develop R&D efforts in the field of genetic medicine also requiring expertise to support the required technical & platform development efforts of the newly established as well as evolving strategies. The position is essential to leading successful product development efforts for novel modalities (LNP, RNA therapeutics) and ensure efficient product quality in collaboration with internal and external teams

A typical day may look like:

• Lead a team, guide and advise on capability, technology development & knowledge build for lipid nanoparticle-based (LNP) delivery platforms within FDG as well as on the development of diverse therapeutic modalities with focus on RNA-based therapeutics.
• Will be experienced in LNP-based product development projects & possess an in-depth understanding of CMC requirements relevant to nucleic acid-based LNP drug product development, and general biologics' development.
• Be the SME and provide strategic & technical representation in cross functional settings for formulation & processes with RNA- and nanoparticle-based modalities
• Will effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate the product development & characterization of LNP-RNA formulations. You will collaborate with these teams with a vision on readiness for any preclinical/clinical development of LNP-based drug products.
• Will ensure strong strategic partnership & communication with colleagues from Regeneron Genetic Medicines, Therapeutic Focus Areas, Research groups, Pre-clinical toxicology, Drug Product & Drug Substance Manufacturing, Project Management, Regulatory Sciences, Quality, Business Development, Finance and Marketing.
• You are responsible for strategic leadership and advice on effective evaluation and characterization of novel formulations/processes & components, delivery technologies & analytical tools in support of therapeutic modalities including (but not limited to) RNA-based therapeutics & nanoparticle modalities.
• Will supervise design of robust and effective experimentation, development of novel characterization tools, data analysis, interpretation, and summary of the same toward effective conclusion.
• Will layout, review and execution of project plans supported by strong scientific rationales and technical approaches & will be an effective communicator. Will be cognizant of project priorities, deliverables (e.g. memos, reports) and timelines.
• Will participate in scientific conferences and forums to gain information about novel technologies with focus on RNA-based therapeutics.
• Will demonstrate scientific excellence through reports, publications and patents. Will be proactive in generating IP and related documentation and collaborate with Regeneron’s legal teams

This role may be for you if:

• You have project leadership & industry knowledge and experience in LNP-based drug product development & delivery technologies is required.
• You have knowledge in general biologics and oligonucleotides product development including understanding of formulation, process and characterization fundamentals across various relevant modalities (e.g. mAbs, fusion proteins, RNA) and delivery forms.
• Proven ability to think creatively and obtain solutions to complex and diverse problems. Proven record of creative, productive, and insightful analysis and achievement.
• Proven interpersonal and leadership skills and ability to influence others to achieve results.

To be considered, you must have a PhD in Pharmaceutics, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related field with a strong background in Lipid Nanoparticle-based (LNP) product development and 6+ years' industry experience. Must have prior experience leading a staff of scientists.

Salary Range (annually)

$141,800.00 - $231,400.00
