Role

The Infrastructure lead is a Senior level Network & Infrastructure Engineer who has mastered all aspects of WAN, LAN, and IT/OT networks and infrastructure. This person would be capable of leading a small team of network, cyber security, and server and cloud infrastructure, engineers to support the company’s world-class manufacturing network capability.

Working in conjunction with key stakeholders such as our enterprise digital engineering and security team, as well as site-based customers, this role will implement the design and configure the operational networks and infrastructure supporting plant floor and office-side users and work with the network support service (the people, process, control plane technology, and component manufacturers/vendors) which support global 24/7 operations.

The scope of this role includes installing and configuring network and infrastructure services that support AV/telephony, physical site and physical perimeter security, all low-voltage installations, any OT networks for sensors and industrial control systems (ICS), and office side and remote workers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Core Network: be familiar with core switching and routing for each site in your jurisdiction, performing configuration or maintenance as needed including firmware upgrades.
  • LAN / WLAN: own the LAN and WLAN configuration for sites, including the segmentation and VLANs required in a plant (GMP facility) or R&D lab and guest wireless access.
  • MDF / IDF Preparation & Maintenance: prepare the physical MDF and IDF(s) for readiness by installing top-of-rack switching, terminating fiber and copper where required, and ensuring there is enough UPS capacity for key equipment; installing and configuring out-of-band equipment.
  • OT & Lab Systems: prepare air-gapped and highly segmented networks for specialized equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: address outages and network performance issues as needed; proactively add equipment to central monitoring and address repeat issues.
  • Carrier Coordination: each site has several carriers, understands the local market, brings N+1 connectivity to a site, and configures failover; regularly monitors and tests for failover.
  • Familiarity with repeater systems for 4G/5G, and 5G modems where required.

Qualifications

  • Design and build networks across OT and IT networks
  • Exceptional customer care and focus on resolving issues quickly
  • Past experience working in air-gapped manufacturing environments
  • Past experience designing and building network control planes
  • Excellent knowledge of network security constructs – authentication, firewalls, segmentation, and VLANs.
  • Certification and training from at least two major network equipment providers: HP/Aruba, Cisco/Miraki, Fortigate, and Palo Alto.
  • Advanced Cisco certifications preferred
  • Experience with endpoint security – anti-malware, Zscalar, System Hardening
  • Firewall configuration, and segmentation experience (evaluation of net flows to determine comm patterns before breaking them with an internal firewall)
  • Experience with automation patching through systems like System Manager or SolarWinds
  • Incident response and disaster recovery experience with evaluation, triage, containment, and restoration processes. Preserving forensic evidence while containing an issue.

Preferred Experience

  • 5 + years leading a small technical team.
  • 10 + years of relevant network and infrastructure experience with relevant network and security certifications
  • Experience across a wide array of network and security vendors
  • Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment
  • Bachelors degree
