Gilead has embarked on a series of infrastructure investments, continuing its impressive growth as a leading Biopharmaceutical company. The Corporate Engineering & Facilities organization within Gilead is responsible for thoughtfully developing and executing the company's facility infrastructure strategy. The group is composed of functions that include Corporate Engineering, Real Estate Strategy, Global Facilities Management and Operations, Sustainability Health and Safety. These functions work closely together to define a cohesive approach to design, build and sustain facility assets that allow Gilead to grow its current operations globally. The group manages facility holdings in excess of 2.8M square feet globally and is also responsible for executing key real estate transactions around the world to support commercial and research growth.

We are looking for an Analyst Intern to support the Capital Planning function within the Corporate Engineering & Facilities organization. The Analyst intern will be responsible to assist with analyzing project budgets and schedule, producing reports, as well as managing project data in an existing Information Management System. A working knowledge of the design and construction industry is a plus.

You must be able to roll-up your sleeves and be passionate about your work, detail-oriented, analytical, and have excellent problem-solving abilities. You'll drive towards simple, scalable solutions to difficult problems, and be able to communicate complex analytical results in a clear and easy-to-understand way.

The program will provide real world experience for 8 - 10 weeks. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week during the length of their internship, unless otherwise specified by their manager. The internship will provide opportunities for career development as well as networking opportunities to understand the industry and function

Essential Duties
• Apply quantitative analysis and produce presentations that will help inform and influence key business decisions around capital investment for Corporate Engineering and Facilities (CEF) organization
• Support CEF growth initiatives by providing guidance on new ideas and cost considerations, as well as help develop scalable tools and processes
• Perform deep-dive analyses to deliver insights on the root causes of issues and make recommendations to drive changes in business strategy to leadership
• Convey a data-driven story to technical and non-technical audiences around key business insights, in collaboration with key cross-functional partners
• Build strategic relationships to manage communication and alignment across multiple teams
• Help develop, implement, and communicate new processes throughout the organization

Minimum Qualifications
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a BS or MS degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or similar discipline)
• Experience analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, and defining recommended actions
• 1-2 years of experience in managing costs and working in a cross-functional organization
• 1+ years of experience with data mining, producing data analytics using Tableau or Power BI, SQL (or equivalent) or Visual Basic
• 1+ years of experience working with data visualization tools, including using advanced functionality (e.g. data blending)
• Able to manage and operate data management and scenarios planning using a pre-established planning system
• Experience or knowledge of financial analysis including Net Present Value, Rate of Return on Investment etc.
• Working knowledge of the Design and Construction industry preferred, but not required

• Have an acute and sharp business acumen and a blend of strategic and tactical know-how on business concepts
• Ability to introduce new ideas and able to implement them in day-to-day operations
• Self-motivated to pursue ideas, character without much fear for inventing new ways of thinking
• Functions well in team environments
• Come up with creative solutions and forwarding thinking ideas about space and people interaction

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite
• Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

• Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
