The Role:

The Program Management team within Clinical Development at Moderna is responsible for driving program teams forward in the development of novel mRNA medicines for a wide range of diseases, conditions, and world health. Moderna is seeking a motivated and energetic Director, Program Management to support the Therapeutics portfolio that includes a robust pipeline in the areas of cardiovascular, autoimmune disorders, and rare diseases. This role will work in close coordination with the Therapeutic Area Head, functional leadership, and program leaders to shape program strategy and drive execution plans. This may be accomplished both by individual contributions as a Program Manager and through hiring, developing, and managing a Program Management team. The successful candidate will have Program Management experience across multiple phases of development in one or more of the pipeline areas of focus and a history of direct line management of others.

Heres What Youll Do:

The Program Management Director of Therapeutics will be involved in high-level supervision of the programs by:

  • Building, mentoring, and training a program management team to support programs, as required based on the Therapeutics Portfolio strategy

  • Building relationships with key stakeholders (team members, functional leads, therapeutic area leadership) to ensure alignment of functional, program and therapeutic area objectives; Leveraging organizational dynamics to promote program goals.

  • Contributing to Program Management initiatives to support development and scaling of capabilities, tools, and processes.

  • Supporting the Therapeutic Area Head in initiatives to build the portfolio (e.g., facilitating committees aimed at developing the portfolio strategy)

The Program Management Director of Therapeutics may also be involved in high-level supervision of the programs by:

  • Partnering with the program leader(s) to shape program strategy and execution plan.

  • Coordinating team efforts to develop impactful presentations to summarize complex topics into critical points to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making, Preparing program status update and governance presentations.

  • Developing and tracking activities against program timelines and budget.

  • Administering the day-to-day activities, including, facilitating cross-functional team meetings, leading discussions to drive decision-making, preparing agenda and meeting minutes, defining and resolving actions items.

  • Working with the Finance group to implement and track program budget(s).

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

  • Experience in drug development across multiple phases lead nomination through post launch in one or more of the focus areas of the pipeline (preferred)

  • BA or BS degree in a scientific field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting or MS degree in a scientific field with at least 8 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.

  • Formal project/program management training

  • Proven track record of successful project management experience supporting late-stage programs

  • Prior experience managing or working within cross-functional project teams with timeline management and budgetary responsibility

  • Prior direct-line management experience managing others

  • Must be adept at working in a fluid environment and foster a strong collaborative spirit internally and externally

  • Strong personal skills to influence without authority, motivate others and manage conflict.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as demonstrated organizationalaptitude

  • Strong working knowledge of project management tools (e.g., msproject, smartsheet, and timeline visualization software
