The Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to become an integral component of the legal and business operations of a leading high-growth company in the biotech industry. We need a pragmatic, business-minded professional with excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail to provide comprehensive lifecycle management for a high volume of contracts, as well as create and improve processes and practices to improve the day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness of the legal team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and responding to time-sensitive requests for legal review, generating agreements using legal templates, managing negotiations through execution, and helping to continually improve the companys contracts management system and processes. The person will be joining a legal who prides themselves on being businesspeople with law degrees. This individual must be able to interact closely with their stakeholders, understand the concerns, and deliver on fast-paced, highly visible contracts.

Heres What Youll Do

  • Manage the intake of legal escalations through the companys contract management system and oversee the progression of a high volume of contracts through to finalization

  • Draft, review, and assist in negotiating a high volume of contracts in support of the G&A, Research, Development, and Clinical organizations assign incoming matters to the appropriate members of the legal team as necessary

  • Coordinate with internal teams, other functional areas, and external parties to ensure timely completion of agreements and appropriate contractual terms

  • Assist in identifying and executing process improvement projects, measuring progress, and continually using data to inform next steps

  • Prepare a variety of reports for tracking and documenting legal team activities to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness

  • Educate others on core contract management processes for the generation, execution, and maintenance of contracts

  • Work closely with members of other departments to help ensure compliance with cross-functional policies and procedures

  • Manage contract template processes, including systematic reviews of templates and playbooks, and incorporation of best contracting practices and provisions

  • Assist with group budget management and processes associated with group outside counsel and consultant spend using the companys legal e-billing system

  • Support legal team members on special projects and be willing to grow and take on additional responsibilities

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent required

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct contract management experience, preferably within a legal department in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry

  • Experience managing the intake, processing, digital execution and tracking of many agreements using a contract management software system

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with Agiloft contract management software a plus

  • Ability to draft contracts, renewals, statements of work, amendments, etc. from templates, and review and negotiate basic contracts, including CDAs, MTAs, Services Agreements and Consulting Agreements

  • Strong organization and project management skills, excellent judgment, and a great deal of resourcefulness

  • Desire to be part of a team, courage to speak up when necessary, and drive to get work completed

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple matters simultaneously and to respond to rapidly shifting priorities in ambiguous or challenging situations

  • Tech-enabled background that will identify automation options throughout the contract lifecycle

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proven ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals from multiple departments at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information using impeccable discretion and judgment

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment that requires strong organization, prioritization and attention to detail

  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as required
