Job Details

We are seeking a Manager, Statistical Geneticist to contribute to the analysis and interpretation of over 1 million genotyped and sequenced humans, linked to rich phenotype data from electronic health records and other sources. You will use these data to gain insights into disease mechanisms and identify novel therapeutic targets, enabling Regeneron to deliver novel medicines to patients in need. You will work collaboratively with our specialists in clinical informatics, genomic data analysis, molecular and cellular biology, and medicine to implement statistical and computational methods to analyze and interpret data at scale. We hope you are excited by the opportunity to design, implement, and refine analyses to connect genetic variation to human health and disease.

As a Statistical Geneticist, a typical day might include the following:

  • Performing genome scale analyses with genotype, imputed, and/or sequence data from >1 million individuals.

  • Using statistical genetic analysis methods to generate insights about human disease.

  • Integrating diverse molecular data types with association results to interpret and prioritize candidate therapeutic targets.

  • Critically reviewing and providing input on analysis plans, results, and summaries to ensure they are accurate and reliable.

  • Identifying potential problems and proposing remedies or refinements.

This role might be for you if:

  • You bring passion and innovative thinking to large-scale genomic analysis.

  • You have a strong work ethic and are proactive in driving projects forward, troubleshooting challenges, and communicating results.

  • You enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment with a diverse team of colleagues.

  • You use outstanding communication skills to summarize and present new human genetic concepts and results to a variety of audiences, ranging from specialists in statistical genetics and computation to specialists in biology, drug design, and medicine.

  • You're a motivated teammate with a desire to pursue genetic discovery in a multi-disciplinary environment.

To be considered for this role, you must have a Ph.D. in human genetics, statistical genetics, or a related field. Postdoctoral experience is preferred, but not required. You should be able to demonstrate experience and competence with current approaches in genomic analysis, including genome-wide and exome-wide association analysis, rare variant analysis, Mendelian randomization, LD score regression, polygenic risk score modeling, pleiotropy analysis, meta-analysis, and the use of functional data to prioritize variants and genes of interest. Expertise with modern cluster and cloud computing environments, experience with advanced tools for genomic analyses (PLINK, BOLT, SAIGE, REGENIE, samtools, minimac, etc.) and statistical analyses and computation (R, python, C/C++, Javascript) are necessary to complete analyses at scale. Experience working on cancer and conducting analyses in admixed populations is preferred.
