What you will do

In this role we are looking for individuals with quantitative science background (statistics, data science, computer science, mathematics or similar) and passion in Oncology drug development to join an oncology R analytic group within global statistical science at Amgen. This role will have opportunity to work across Amgens oncology pipeline (early and late) to oversee the development of data visualization, statistical/machine learning algorithms, and analytic pipeline/package/application in R. It provides opportunity to develop leadership skills in oncology clinical development strategy and address scientific questions through practical quantitative thinking. In this role you will

  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues (e.g., clinical scientist, study statistician, programmer) to develop data visualization, statistical modeling, machine learning/predictive modeling algorithm in R to address scientific questions in oncology development
  • Overseeing design and development of R based Markdown document, Interactive visualization and shiny application to facilitate centralized tool building and enable real-time, high-quality analysis delivery
  • Lead interaction with statistical programming / data standard team to streamline ADaM data development for real-time statistical analysis
  • Provide quantitative contributions and support statistical analyses of individual studies/projects
  • Publish applied research in scientific journals and books, making presentations on statistical methodology in the biopharmaceutical setting at external scientific communities such as biopharmaceutical industry and academic meetings
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in the field of statistics and quantitative sciences in oncology drug development and contributing to scientific advances in the field
  • Keep full knowledge of Amgens statistical policies and strategies. Serve as team member of change / process improvement initiatives

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree (statistics, data science, computer science, mathematics or similar) and 2 years of quantitative science experience OR
  • Masters degree and 6 years quantitative science experience OR
  • Bachelors degree and 8 years quantitative science experience OR
  • Associates degree and 10 years quantitative science experience Or
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of quantitative science experience
  • Proficient in R programming language
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree, or masters degree with relevant experience
  • 4 or more years' pharma/biotech experience in oncology drug development
  • Proven project leadership experience
  • Experience in designing, analyzing and reporting clinical trials
  • Excellent R computing, modeling and visualization skills
  • Experience with R Markdown or shiny development
  • Strong communication an organizational skills
