Pionyr Immunotherapeutics is a growing South San Francisco-based immuno-oncology company focused on novel approaches to generate anti-tumor immunity. Pionyr’s Antibody Generation team is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated candidate for a full-time Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist position (level based on candidate’s experience). The candidate will have an opportunity to play an integral role in advancing our therapeutic candidates into the clinic and supporting target discovery efforts. The individual will be responsible for executing cell-based and protein-based antibody screens and characterizing candidate antibodies using ELISA, flow cytometry, and other binding and functional assays.

Specific Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

  • Perform hands on research activities to support screening and characterization of therapeutic antibody candidates using cell-based and protein binding assays, including flow cytometry, ELISA, SPR (Biacore), and BLI methods.
  • Develops antibody characterization assays to support epitope mapping
  • Supports development of cell-based functional assays for antibody therapeutic lead selection.
  • Independently troubleshoots and optimizes assays through surveying the literature for alternative or novel approaches.
  • Analyzes and interprets data and present findings in team meetings.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in immunology, cell biology, biology or related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial or academic lab setting
  • Experience with characterization of monoclonal antibodies using binding and functional assays
  • Proficiency with multi-parameter flow cytometry; experience with high throughput flow cytometry platforms (e.g., Intellicyt platform) is a plus
  • Experience with antibody binding characterization using flow cytometry and ELISA; experience with BLI or SPR platforms is a plus
  • Extensive experience with cell culture using cell lines and primary cells
  • Experience with generation of recombinant cell lines using DNA transfection and viral transduction approaches is a plus.
  • Experience with cell-based functional assays is a plus
  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation and teamwork skills as well as ability to collaboratively contribute to multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
