Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Genome Engineering Technology group, which addresses a wide range of experimental topics, including genome editing, protein engineering and stem cell differentiation. Our group also works to develop new classes of therapeutics, such as unique protein fusions or cellular immunotherapies. We are seeking candidates with experience in generating and analyzing data derived from single cell and bulk RNA-seq, ATAC-seq or related genomic methods. Such data will be used to characterize immunotherapy cells, organoid cultures, and mouse tissues. Preference will be given to candidates with broad knowledge of eukaryotic molecular and cellular biology, including experience with maintaining and differentiating ES and iPS cells. In addition to supporting ongoing projects, the scientist will be expected to initiate new avenues of research. Ideal candidates are collaborative scientists that have demonstrated strong intellectual curiosity, scientific independence, and a desire to develop new technologies or therapeutics.

As a Scientist on the Genome Engineering Technology group, a typical day might include the following:

  • Generating and analyzing data derived from RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and related methods.

  • Applying functional genomic and pathway analysis methods to characterize cells, to understand pathway utilization and to improve differentiation protocols.

  • Culture and differentiate human ES cells and iPSCs.

  • Designing and executing experiments according to established protocols.

  • Maintaining clear records of experimental details in a laboratory notebook.

  • Communicating experimental results, conclusions, and ideas directly to supervisors, project team members, and management in presentation form.

This role might be for you if:
  • You are collaborative, hardworking, flexible and innovative.

  • You can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • You have excellent communication and organizational skills.

To be considered for this opportunity you must possess a PhD in molecular biology, systems biology, or related field. Experienced in functional genome analysis, with a strong molecular biology background. Enjoys bench science and should be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a goal-oriented team. Desire and willingness to learn new subject matter and techniques. A track record of independent scientific achievement and problem solving as demonstrated through publications. Occasional weekend and evening hours required.
