Job Details

The Viral Delivery Technologies group is seeking an independent and highly motivated Associate Scientist to aid in developing novel viral vectors. You will be collaborating with various teams of researchers to design, characterize, and validate novel Adeno-associated virus vectors in vitro and in vivo. You will also have the opportunity to support development of a new antibody-retargeted viral vector platform for gene therapy applications by developing the efficacy and tissue specificity of vectors.

As a scientist within the Viral Delivery Technologies group, a typical day might include:

  • Designing, executing, analyzing, and troubleshooting in vitro experiments to characterize and validate new antibody and viral vector designs or complexes.

  • Performing basic molecular biology techniques (Cloning, Western blotting, DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, RT-PCR, quantitative PCR, etc.)

  • Work closely with antibody experts to design in vitro and in vivo experiments, evaluate vector biodistribution, and develop therapeutic applications of retargeted viral vectors.

  • Develop our understanding of antibody-retargeting platforms to inform further optimizations.

  • Balance working in the lab directly and effectively delegating tasks to a report.

  • Working collaboratively with other department team members and with collaborators in various therapeutic focus areas across research and discovery.

  • Participation in team meetings and preparation of regular presentations for departmental meetings.

To be considered for this role you must have a PhD and expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, protein purification, and antibodies. Specific experience required includes mammalian cell culture, manipulation and purification of viruses or proteins, plasmid cloning, and use of antibodies for various applications. Familiarity with key antibody properties, gene expression, viral vectors, microscopy, flow cytometry, and assessing biodistribution and immunohistochemistry data is desired. Level will be commensurate with experience
