Facilities Program Manager
This position is responsible for the oversight ot the Kankakee site spare parts program management including MRO. The role will lead and develop the spare parts strategy to service customer needs effectively and efficiently while meeting growth and profitability goals. Additionally, this resource will interface with the global asset management team to align best practices and ensure site service processes align with our global objectives. The Spare Parts/ MRO manager reports to the Director of Site Facilities/ IFM Program at the Kankakee site.
Provide a technical and analytical oversight of the site spare parts program and MRO system with a strategic approach to optimize process.
Manage storeroom spare parts vendor by documenting and tracking financial costs and other KPIs (cycle count accuracy, turns per year, stock outs, inventory value, etc.)
Review and approve change request for new/edited Material Master Data
Liaison between storeroom vendor and site departments requesting spare parts.
Subject matter expert for site spare parts program and MRO management
Using the spare parts list received from the equipment vendor, in consultation with the area Engineering SME, must determine which spare parts to maintain in inventory based on the agreed spare parts holding strategy
Confirm materials on material request forms are not duplicates of materials already in SAP
Investigate inquiries and resolve problems to improve spare parts availability.
Provide oversight of the process quotations and orders, complete the order cycle by following up with shipment department.
Coordinate the handling of any technical issues that develop in communications.
Develop a process/ preventive maintenance plan for some materials (i.e., motors, pumps, rotating equipment, etc.) to be maintained while in storage to ensure they do not become damaged and are suitable for use when needed.
Analyze inventory levels and make adjustment recommendations to the Critical Spare Parts program.
Work alongside other internal teams to develop, implement, and maintain a proactive sales and marketing approach for the distribution of parts and services.
Develop innovative solutions to improve the management of spare parts effectiveness and efficiency based on usage data of spare parts in past years.
Track spare parts consumption and replenishment requirements and facilitate MRO activities.
Work with spare parts management vendor to perform crib crawls and inventory accuracy count, utilizing best technology for part description standardization and eliminate duplicates in system.
Ensure proper max and min levels for critical spares.
Develop and manage process for parts obsolescence and critical long lead items.
Establish a process to update data on a regular basis. Perform data clean-up for all components, that have not been part the critical spares initiative
Establish a regular communication with vendors
Participate in developing Equipment Spare Part Lists for assets as it relates to shared spare parts across facilities
Provide a single point of contact to the customer/ value streams for post-project support
Analyze storeroom performance and work with facilities to drive improvement
Create and distribute weekly/monthly updates and analysis regarding spare parts management, as well as customer feedback.
Demonstrated knowledge of part compatibility and suitable replacements of common items
5+ years’ experience of working in a technical role within chemical or pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.
Good understanding and demonstrated spare parts inventory management in a computerized system. Experience with SAP is preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work effectively with vendors, staff and users at all levels.
Wide ranging skills in such areas as planning, leadership, decision-making and administration.
Ability to provide study reports, technical documentation, and/or strategic plans for senior leadership and technical staff members.
