IT Compliance Consultant

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to help support and execute compliance monitoring and evidence review, with a focus on AbbVie IT Policy controls. The role is instrumental to ensuring compliance with Business Technology Solutions (BTS) policies, procedures, and processes within the Operations and Enterprise Systems (OES) organization. This position will also support and work directly with OES system and control owners to ensure their internal controls are designed and operating effectively, and control execution evidence is sufficiently retained to support internal and external audits. In addition, this role will foster relationships across OES, driving continuous improvement and reducing the time needed to remediate non-compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure OES system and control owners are compliant with applicable corporate and BTS policies and procedures.
• Plan and execute IT policy control monitoring to ensure OES systems are audit-ready. Use a risk-based approach for control monitoring and prioritize systems to be assessed.
• Work with application teams to ensure control monitoring engagements are executed within scope, potential policy non-compliances are properly vetted, and agreed-upon recommendations are timely, implemented and validated.
• Coordinate with OES Compliance team to document areas of non-compliance, agreed-upon recommendations; prepare and regularly share control monitoring progress reports with OES Compliance leadership.
• Ensure timely fulfilment of control monitoring requests, following up with application teams and escalating as appropriate.
• Provide guidance to help stakeholders navigate AbbVie requirements, effectively managing risk and minimizing organizational impact.
• Partner with stakeholders, sharing best practices and championing continuous improvements. Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on risk, control, and compliance matters.
• Identify, propose, initiate, and lead improvement initiatives related to BTS processes, policies, and procedures.
• Develop, implement, and report compliance monitoring metrics. Use insights from metrics to drive process improvements.
• Perform work using standard methodologies and a risk-based approach; bring external perspectives to OES Compliance.
• Interface with key stakeholders (OES business units, OES system and control owners, OES audit support, Information Security)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with three years of IT compliance experience; master's degree with two years of IT compliance
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
• Intuitive, proactive, and demonstrating problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a diverse, global team environment and across different levels of management
• Experience in a manufacturing or quality systems environment is a plus
