Adaptive Phage Therapeutics (APT) is a clinical-stage biotech company developing innovative bacteriophage therapies addressing the global crisis of antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. APT is looking for a Molecular Assay & Testing Analyst III to join our Quality Control Molecular team.  The QC Molecular team is responsible for developing and implementing novel next generation sequencing and other molecular methods to assist in advancing bacteriophage for clinical treatment. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently developing and performing assays in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment under supervision of the Associate Director of Molecular Assays & Testing within the Quality Group. This is an on-site and laboratory based position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual NGS library preparation of microbial targets for both Illumina and MinION platforms.
  • Operation and Maintenance of Illumina MiniSeq and Oxford Nanopore sequencers.
  • Develop novel qPCR assays using QuantStudio 7 PRO.
  • Develop, optimize and implement a range of molecular QC tests which may include residual host DNA quantification, MLPA, restriction digests, and nucleic acid isolations.
  • Stay up to date on new molecular techniques and suggest new applications. Develop new techniques.
  • Troubleshoot issues relating to both existing and new laboratory techniques and provide feedback and potential solutions to senior leadership.
  • Adhere to the company Quality Management System (QMS) to maintain highly controlled laboratory processes.
  • Support QA management in drafting, editing and implementation of formal SOPs, forms, deviations, CAPAs, and other required documents in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Document all laboratory processes using proper forms and submit to QA in required timeframes.
  • Maintain clean and stocked working environment including participation in regular laboratory cleaning schedule per established SOPs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • 5 or more years' laboratory experience, preferably in a GMP or GLP regulated laboratory, including 2 or more years with hands-on next generation sequencing techniques
  • 2 or more years of assay development experience
  • Advanced knowledge of general laboratory techniques and proficiency with commonly used equipment including vortex, centrifuges, Nanodrop, Qubit, heat blocks, incubators and thermocyclers.
  • Mastery of basic pipetting and multi-channel pipetting skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Keeps careful, well-organized and detail-oriented laboratory documentation.
  • Self-motivation, adaptability, positive attitude, and the ability to multitask while under pressure
