The company’s immunotherapy platform is designed to activate both the innate (natural killer cell and macrophage) and adaptive (T cell) immune systems to create long-term “immunological memory.”

Position Summary

ImmunityBio, Inc. (formerly NantKwest, Inc.) is developing cell and immunotherapy products that are designed to help strengthen each patient’s natural immune system, potentially enabling it to outsmart the disease and eliminate cancerous or infected cells.

ImmunityBio is seeking a high performer who has a contagious level of energy and a proven record of providing financial insights as well as collaborating across the organization. The Senior Accountant reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and will have a broad scope of responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following: month-end, quarter end, and year-end close, accounts payable and receivables, fixed assets, intangibles, accrued expense including clinical trial accounting, prepaid expenses and license fees, related party transactions, internal and external financial reporting and other related responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare of monthly journal entries/reconciliations relating to accounts such as leases, accounts payable and receivables, fixed assets, intangibles, accrued expense including clinical trial accounting, prepaid expenses and license fees, and other areas as assigned.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and applicable disclosures for both internal and external presentation.
  • Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions, reconcile balances in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the general ledger, calculate depreciation for all fixed assets, investigate potential obsolescence, and conduct periodic impairment reviews.
  • Remain current with GAAP standards and assist in the assessment and implementation of significant new accounting guidance and policies across the organization.
  • Balance sheet and income statement variance analysis.
  • Perform ad hoc projects as determined by senior management (i.e., ERP implementations)
  • Ensures SOX compliance across accounting functions as part of the day-to-day operational accounting responsibilities.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and ensures consistency of policies/procedures across the company (with deviations as appropriate).
  • Other duties as required.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 3-5 years of related experience with progressively greater responsibilities. In-depth understanding of GAAP and accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical skills set and solid experience with financial data analysis and preparation of financial reports, statements and projections including cash-flows analysis.
  • Public companies experience is a plus.
  • Public accounting audit experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.

  • Possess superior organizational and documentation skills, attention to detail, strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external professionals at all levels.
  • Must be able to communicate with confidence and tact across all levels within the company.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to foster a team oriented environment, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong, consistent work ethic with a keen attention to details and ability to focus on the big picture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint knowledge.
  • Systems knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365 is preferred.
