AltaThera Pharmaceuticals, a precision medicine company using innovative science to improve patient care, seeks a Marketing Manager or Director to lead the Company’s marketing efforts for its first FDA approved product. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on individual to be responsible for planning and implementing the marketing plan for a new cardiovascular hospital product that addresses unmet needs. This is a critical and trusted leadership role within the Company. You will work closely with Company’s CEO and Founder and will have significant exposure to the heads of Sales, Finance, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and the Company’s Board of Directors.

The successful candidate will have prior hospital pharmaceutical or medical device product management experience or related agency experience, as well as a deep understanding of sales management of hospital products.  This person enjoys taking control and managing much of the work himself/herself in order to develop and implement high impact marketing plans to meet corporate objectives. You possess excellent collaborative skills but are also a roll-up-the-sleeves “doer” as needed. This is a full-time position located in downtown Chicago.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Execution

  • Meet or exceed sales plan and P&L targets. Implement the marketing strategy, including the planning, development, and implementation of the product marketing plan and related sales strategies, in collaboration with the CEO. This includes personal and non-personal marketing initiatives and other strategies and tactics for building awareness, trial, and usage. Organize and/or participate in all healthcare professional (HCP) advisory board meetings.
  • Work closely with key opinion leaders (KOLs), hospital nurses, and hospital pharmacists to develop market segmentation and create and execute tactical plans. Analyze and measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, modifying when needed to improve results. Utilize CRM data to inform and update product marketing plan. Manage product content for the Company's website and other digital media. Responsible for budgets, including advertising and promotion, conferences and symposia, sales brochures and other product documentation, and digital media.

Marketing Leadership

  • Personally attend HCP meetings with sales representatives and medical affairs professionals in the field on a bi-monthly basis. Lead the planning and execution of quarterly and annual National Sales & Marketing Meetings with CEO. Partner internally with the Sales and Medical Affairs teams to quickly master the technical and medical features of the product. Update sales tools and training programs. Stay current and in compliance with all corporate policies, government regulations, and evolving changes within the pharmaceutical industry. Demonstrated creativity to explore new approaches to respond to changing marketplace.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced business and/or science degree preferred. 3-5 years of hospital pharmaceutical or medical device product management experience or related agency experience. Less experience will be considered for exceptional candidates. Keen understanding of FDA drug promotion requirements regarding written and oral communications. Experience creating and monitoring metrics to evaluate results of marketing efforts. Must be self-motivated, able to inspire cross-functional collaboration and transparency, data-driven, emotionally intelligent, creative, and have a passion for success. Must possess problem-solving and critical thinking skills to drive projects through completion and be proactive in identifying project bottlenecks and implementing solutions. Experience in pharmaceutical functions outside of Marketing is also helpful.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills. Excellent presentation skills. Ability to work full-time in-person at the Company’s downtown Chicago office and travel (up to 20% of the time).
