Lets do this. Lets change the world. During this program, you will develop machine learning-based tools for efficient sampling and ranking of poses for protein-protein complexes. These tools will play an important role in guiding the design of new molecules for targeted protein degradation and will be developed with mentorship from computational/medicinal chemists, data scientists, and machine learning engineers. The primary responsibilities of this role include:

• Understand and contribute to an existing python package to predict and rank protein-protein interactions

• Compare the performance of machine learning models with physics-based approaches for protein docking

• Develop techniques to incorporate protein flexibility into pose prediction

• Improve sampling efficiency using the attention mechanism or other techniques

• Hold regular result sharing presentations and discussion with members of the team

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

• 18 years or older

• Graduated with a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

• Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Masters program for a

• Masters internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR

• Masters OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

• Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

• Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree concentration(s) in Computational Chemistry, Computational Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similarly quantitative discipline.

• Experience in machine learning algorithm development and a basic understanding of molecular dynamics/statistical mechanics principles

• Familiarity with Python and data science/machine learning tools (PyTorch, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or others)
