Senior Research Associate, Bioinformatics

The Role:

Moderna is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate with strong coding skills and interest in RNA biology to join our Computational Science team. The successful candidate will design mRNA sequences computationally using our state-of-the-art sequence engineering pipeline and will contribute to diverse bioinformatics projects to improve our platform technologies and in support of Modernas overall mission to develop mRNA therapeutics. This role is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role on a team enabling molecular drug design at an organization that is radically changing the biotech industry.

Heres What Youll Do:

• Execute computational mRNA sequence design tasks with guidance from RNA biologists and computational scientists

• Execute analyses built to suit a range of established protocols and newly developed workflows

• Identify routine technical problems and bring them to the attention of the team lead

• Visualize, summarize, and present results to stakeholders

• Collaborate with project teams to understand key mRNA design needs

• Work with the team to synthesize findings into actionable outcomes

• Partner with others in the team to develop new analysis tools and methodologies

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

• Bachelors of Science required (Masters preferred)

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field

• Highly proficient in Python and/or R

• Experience with state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools

• General knowledge of genetics and molecular biology preferred

• Detail-oriented, process-oriented, and result-oriented

• Creative problem solver able to draw conclusions from complex datasets, and present them in a clear and understandable way

• Strong written and oral communication skills
