Senior Principal Cloud Architect

The Role

The Senior Principal Cloud Architect will be a key senior technical member of the Cloud and Digital Infrastructure team, owning and driving the roadmap of cloud foundational platforms and services. This will include orchestration automation activities around cloud infrastructure provisioning, cloud account vending, cloud service enablement, application cloud onboarding, etc. The individual will be the end-to-end platform owner responsible for technology strategy, architecture, engineering, operations, and life cycle management with a focus on continuous improvement. This is a critical role with overall platform responsibility for delivering best-in-class core platforms that are compliant with all technical and non-technical requirements and policies. He/she/they should be able to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support new technical solutions, tools, and processes to improve the cloud onboarding experience, maximize standardization and drive business efficiencies.

The ideal candidate will have depth in cloud operations and engineering. He/She will be an effective communicator who is able to serve as a change agent in a culture which is already deeply focused on embracing digital practices and leveraging technology. The successful candidate will be a creative thinker who is able to generate options, build consensus and execute. They are a big picture thinker who can see the forest through the trees and lead Cloud and digital infrastructure transformation in an integrated way. This individual must possess the right combination of strategic thinking and operational excellence.

This leader will have ample tenacity and experience in a fast paced, metrics-driven environment. They will also be comfortable executing in rapidly changing environments and acting with a sense of urgency. They will retain grace and resilience under pressure. It is critical that this leader bring strong collaboration and partnering skills.

Heres What Youll Do

• Create and oversee technical strategies and architectures; provide technical direction and oversight within and across programs; uphold the architectural design, from initial design through implementation; ensure that the technical strategy aligns to the short- and long-term goals of the organization

• Collaborate with Digital teams to ensure that the construction of architecture components (e.g., domain architecture, solution architecture, and technical architecture) aligns with architecture strategies

• Interpret business requirements to articulate a design, develop and execute solutions to address business goals and strategies

• Establish technology standards, patterns and principles as defined by Digital initiatives and technology roadmaps

• Collaborate with various stakeholders to determine requirements that adhere to our regulatory compliance and audit requirements

• Work closely with Infosec partners to develop, review, validate and recommend cloud security controls, guardrails, service control policies and monitor compliance to enterprise - level security standards

• Participate in the Cloud Governance processes (legal, data, & security services) and communities of practice

• Perform technical design and code reviews for cloud-based architectures and integrations

• Collaborate with Enterprise team and deliver work products that support a digital transformation by leading assigned product and solution teams.

• Lead multiple or large cloud platform or application adoption projects and facilitate large group JAD sessions for requirements modeling in several disciplines

• Participate in enterprise planning activities that include vendor assessments, technology platform selection and retirement, prioritization and integration

• Lead and influence cross functional teams (application, platform, security, data, operations, infrastructure) through transformative changes

• Define systems, technical, and application architectures for new strategic initiatives; develop and maintain an architectural blueprint and evolutionary roadmap; deliver cost effectiveness, business value and competitiveness

• Mentor, coach, train, and provide feedback to other program members; provide feedback to leadership on the technical abilities of the team

• Operate as an innovative thought leader; contribute significantly to the overall growth and quality of programs and teams through knowledge sharing and coaching on the current best practices and market trends within the industry

• Comply with all corporate and departmental privacy and data security policies and practices, including but not limited to, Modernas Information Systems Security Policy.

• Review and consult on product and technical roadmaps across programs; collaborate with program leadership and architects to ensure the creation of viable technical plans that can be executed by programs and teams

• Drive MVPs and perform cloud foundation workshops with cross functional teams to support the design, build and implementation of Cloud core foundational platform components.

• Up to 15% travel time required

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

• Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree

• 10+ years in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting.

• 4+ years of experience in design and build of Landing Zone solution/Control tower in AWS, GCP, & Azure. Preferably in AWS Cloud.

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in Multi cloud automation using well architected framework that includes account/project/subscription vending, core services setup security, network, logging, monitoring, shared services, Backups, DR and BCP.

• 4+ years of experience in Terraform Enterprise includes Multi region installation, module development, workspace vending, Sentinel Policies, and Org Management.

• 4+ years of experience in security tools integrations, services guardrails, Vulnerability Scanning, & Policy enforcement in AWS Cloud.

• 4+ years of Image build and pipelines for Linux and Windows servers using Packers/Ansible/YAML/HCL

• 4 years of experience in architecting Devops based CI/CD deployment pipelines

• 3 years of experience with source code management, branching, gitbash, certificate management, service accounts, vault, data tokenization & DAM

• 2 years of experience in one of cloud financial tools cloud ability/cloud health/Cost explorer in developing dashboards, KPIs, & metrics to drive financial accountability, improve resource utilization and optimize spend

• AWS certified Solution Architect Professional with hands on experience

• Required experience in cloud-to-cloud migrations that includes compute, storage, network, policies, roles, security guardrails, KMS, replication, & data lifecycle management.
