We are seeking highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to join the research lab in the Department of Neurological Science at Stanford University School of Medicine.

A successful candidate should have a background in Computational biology, bioengineer, biophysics, Data Science or relevant area to collaborate with lab biologists to develop algorithms, theoretical models, computational simulations, or mathematical models for statistical inference.  The primary focuses in the laboratory are to understand regulatory mechanisms of cytoskeletal structures, to elucidate pathogenesis of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer, Huntington, Parkinson’s diseases, and to develop interventional strategies. The scientist will work with faculty investigators and lab members to analyze computational workflows; and to develop and execute modeling projects.  The scientist will take the computational biology lead on developing novel analytical methods and mathematical /computational models. The scientist will independently run analyses and collaborate with experimenters on the appropriate analysis of generated data. The scientist will be responsible for a variety of computational and statistical tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with faculty investigators and lab members to develop and execute research projects Employ new and existing tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize multivariate relationships in data. Develop algorithms, theoretical/predictable models, computational simulations, statistical models, and perform statistical analyses appropriate to data and reporting requirements. Work with lab members to analyze bio-computational data and Take the lead on solving problems with bio-computational pipelines Develop oral and written dissemination of findings for lab meetings, meetings with collaborators and/or for scientific journals Manage and maintain large data sets and detailed records of all analyses Incumbent may need to train lab members in some data analysis and prepare materials for grant proposals

QUALIFICATIONS:

A PhD or MS degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, bioengineer, or biophysics, mathematics or related fields.

In addition, excellent written and oral communication skills are required along with three strongly supportive letters of recommendation. Experience on collaborative work with bio-scientists or chemists is highly desired

REQUIRED MATERIALS:
Along with your application, a cover letter describing your specific interests and background, resume or C.V, contact information for three relevant references, and a 1–2-page description of what specifically interests you about this particular position and area of science.
