Description
The laboratory technician processes, distributes and ships samples for testing and analysis. May setup and conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, researcher, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. Will be responsible for calibration and operation of instruments and data information flow.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare assay ready plates for biochemical and cell based assays
- Routinely perform biochemical and cell-based activity assays to identify lead compounds exhibiting desirable biological activities.
- Regularly perform high throughput screens.
- Work with other team members and support various programs.
- Operate experimental or other specially designed laboratory apparatus and equipment.
- Assemble and analyze research data.
- Backup for compound library when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with assay design, cell culture, or sample management
- Previous experience with small molecule SAR assay is highly desirable
- Experience with high throughput screening assays and automation is preferred.
- Highly motivated, fast learner, organized, detail-oriented, and devoted to project goals
- Able to collaborate proficiently and communicate effectively with colleagues and management teams
Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree with preference for cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, or a related field study and 2+ years’ of hands-on experience with cell culture or biochemical assays, or
Master’s degree with major coursework in biology field and one year experience as Research Assistant or equivalent.
