The Imaging Sciences group is seeking a creative, collaborative, enthusiastic, and highly organized individual to head our growing Microscopy Core that will serve all therapeutic areas in Research. Our group leverages and provides support for optical microscopies including confocal microscopy, widefield brightfield & fluorescent microscopy, slide scanners, high-content imaging, & lightsheet microscope.  We also bring in new state-of-the-art technologies as appropriate, including super-resolution microscopy, lattice light sheet microscopy, in vivo microscopy, among others.

We are looking for someone to interface with scientists and pathologists and technology experts of all levels to deliver high quality, rigorous, and unbiased experimental data, interpretations, and novel methods in support of Regeneron’s diverse therapeutic programs.  This is a unique opportunity to become deeply involved in a variety of exciting and creative initiatives at a premiere biology research institute.

In this role a typical day would include:

  • Interface with collaborators to understand programs and requests, adopt projects based on suitability and rerouting or involving other technology groups as appropriate, provide progress updates on ongoing projects, and communicate results in both project focused discussions and in overview or periodic aggregated reviews

  • Develop scientifically rigorous experiments with appropriate controls, supervise PhD scientists and R&D Specialists in the coordination & execution of these experiments, review data and results, and collate into presentations for communication

  • Oversee the day to day operations & of the microscopy core, including scheduling, prioritization, utilization, capacity, & timelines, along with requisite reporting

  • Gather technology needs aggregated across Research to identify, pilot, and develop beneficial and relevant novel technologies to keep the facility state-of-the-art

  • Coordinate with research community to understand aggregated needs and stay abreast of technology and scientific developments in the field to inform strategic planning and resourcing

To be considered for this role you must have a PhD in Biology, Biophysics, Physics or Bioengineering plus 8 years of relevant experience. You need to have substantial knowledge of cellular, organoid, and animal model validation across diverse therapeutic contexts.  We need someone with extensive experience in immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, whole mount immunostaining, and tissue clearing. You must be comfortable and experienced with quantitative image and data analyses, including Zen, Imaris Bitplane, ImageJ, or otherwise. To be successful in this role you need to have exceptional critical thinking, attention to detail, scientific rigor, and strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
