Position Summary:

The Manager, Contracting Business Partner position is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic legal department supporting Kriya Therapeutics, Inc., a private gene therapy biotech company with offices in Redwood City, California and Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.  Kriya is a fully integrated biotech in constant growth, with expanding technologies, pipeline and employee population.    “Fully integrated” means that Kriya has internal capabilities in all aspects of gene therapy development, from invention to manufacture.  

Kriya’s Legal & Corporate Compliance Department supports the full spectrum of Kriya’s activities, including financing, contracting, healthcare, employment and other corporate compliance matters, stock administration, policy-making, and more.  Legal & Corporate Compliance professionals take pride in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with our colleagues/internal clients.  The department currently consists of: Senior Director, Corporate Legal & Compliance, General Counsel, VP of Intellectual Property and Director, Legal & Transactions.

This position will work directly with these and other professionals across Kriya’s 100+ employee base. 

This position requires an individual who is highly organized, reliable, detailed-oriented and have excellent communication skills.  Primary responsibilities include: drafting, processing and archiving Master Services Agreement, Consulting Agreements, Non-Disclosure agreements, amendments, Statements of Work and other contracts; partnering with various department members to understand and re-prioritize, as needed, mission-critical transactions; facilitating and managing contracting processes for dynamic departments in the company.


Primary Responsibilities:

Assist with administration of Kriya contracting process, including:

  • Research prior/existing relationship with contracting parties;
  • Draft and negotiate multiple contract types, primarily from templates, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, Master Service Agreements, Statements of Work, and Change Orders;
  • Review vendor contract templates or documentation and escalate any questions or issues internally to Legal & Corporate Compliance department, as appropriate;
  • Monitor and track contracts from draft submission to final signatures using Ironclad, Kriya’s contract lifecycle management system;
  • Facilitate and manage contract exemption processes;
  • Maintain and update Kriya’s contract management system for each assigned contract;
  • Act as liaison between internal business owners, Kriya in-house counsel, and third party vendors;
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal business partners;
  • Communicate with internal business partners regarding contract needs, obligations, and revisions;
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Strong computer skills in database management and document preparation (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.  
  • Ability to manage varied workload and meet timelines, prioritize tasks and assignments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with Legal & Corporate Compliance Department colleagues, internal business clients, and third party vendors/partners.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, a quick learner, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to understand enforce Legal & Corporate Compliance policies, processes, and systems, as well as explain these to Kriya business clients
  • Ability to learn, understand, and use various legal and compliance systems.
  • Exercise sound judgment in escalating issues to Kriya Legal & Corporate Compliance Department colleagues as appropriate
  • Experience in legal support, contracts administration, or other relevant experience is required
  • Experience with Ironclad contract management system is a plus.
  • Experience within biotech/pharma industry is a plus.
