As a Manufacturing Technician, you will execute the cell culture processes necessary to meet cultivated meat production targets in a GMP pilot scale operation. You will work alongside multiple teams including Bioprocess to establish consistent and robust manufacturing and Quality to assure our product is safe, nutritious, and savory. You will report to the Manufacturing Manager.

  • Full-time, non-exempt (hourly)

Responsibilities
  • Operate cell culture manufacturing equipment, including: incubators, centrifuges, biological safety cabinets (BSCs), autoclaves and novel bioreactors.
  • You will operate equipment according to defined processing conditions.
  • Prepare media and buffer solutions for the manufacturing process.
  • Measure and monitor materials and equipment to assure batches are manufactured to quality standards.
  • Clean, assemble, and sterilize equipment.
  • Help identify challenges; and investigate and recommend potential solutions to help solve challenges.
  • Partner with coworkers and supervisor to effectively troubleshoot minor equipment and process issues.
  • Calibrate / operate semi-automated and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform in-process sampling and testing to assure batches meet specification.
  • Follow and comply with all safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), Batch Production Records (BPRs), and other quality documents.
  • Be a safety advocate by creating and maintaining a safe work environment, engaging with your team in safe working habits and conditions.
  • Complete and maintain Quality Records in compliance with regulatory and GMP requirements.
  • Promote operational effectiveness by partnering with other Mission Barns teams to maintain or improve the quality of our products.
  • Effectively collaborate with others to achieve team goals and expectations.
  • Maintain rooms according to proper cleanliness requirements.
  • Perform activities in a controlled environment up to and including classified clean room conditions.
  • Maintain work areas within the spirit and guidelines of 5S in accordance with Lean Manufacturing and company guidelines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Have strong attention to detail and capture all required data.
  • Support the operation through other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Physical Requirements
  • Must able to meet these requirements with or without accommodations:
  • Ability to stand on your feet for up to 10 hours with legally required breaks, where applicable.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and cleanroom gowning in certain areas of the facility.
  • Ability to operate machinery in a fast-paced environment under pressure, able to multi-task and is results-oriented.
  • Manual dexterity for the use of pilot plant equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Ability to follow basic verbal directions as instructed by applicable supervisors and team members.
  • Ability to handle fluctuation in temperature associated with ovens, incubators, cooling environments, or sterile rooms.

About You
  • Passionate about our goal of building a more sensible food system.
  • High School Education / GED.
  • Associate/Technical Degree or BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology (Preferred).
  • Education or training in a cell culture environment is a plus.
  • Experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
