The Position
Bolt is seeking an experienced program leader and drug developer to drive and manage cross functional product development activities of its novel Immuno-Oncology portfolio. The portfolio consists of immune-stimulated antibody conjugates (ISACs) and a myeloid agonist that repolarizes tumor associated macrophages from being tumor supportive to being tumor-destructive.  The portfolio includes Bolt’s proprietary programs as well as programs being developed in collaborations with other biotechnology companies. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and driven by scientific curiosity.
 
This role is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a seasoned, strategic professional with proven success in leading project teams responsible for the development of investigational therapies and novel technologies. Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, this leader will play a pivotal role in setting the strategy and direction as well as managing careful and timely execution of the program. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in key core competencies around leadership and teamwork, communication, problem solving and decision-making, and conflict resolution. This individual has accountability for sound decisions through their knowledge of essential technical content around drug development, study design, and therapeutic areas.
 
 Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage Bolt’s program management function, including managing project manager reports, project manager responsibilities for one or more therapeutic program(s) and key responsibilities for the portfolio review process. Requires critical skills in planning, teamwork, decision-making and communication
• Manage the execution and operational aspects of the program, including the development of Clinical Development Plans, tactical implementation plans, integrated project timelines, monitoring key milestones and decisions points to drive project goals and objectives
• Partner with program lead to coordinate activities across development functions ensuring alignment in advancement toward program goals
• Conduct efficient, issue-driven core team and sub-team meetings ensuring cross functional input/engagement
• Develop, manage, and seek to achieve project/program timeline including critical path activities to achieve project team goals
• Plan, coordinate and track the progress and activities of all cross-functional disciplines at required complexity and scale to achieve success. Responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, reporting and closure of projects
• Create and maintain project budgets and forecasts consistent with the project plans and resourcing requirements and facilitate roll-up into the company’s corporate budget/forecast
• Partner closely with Project Team Leads, Finance, and functional leaders to development project budgets; closely monitors spend against project budgets; addresses resource capability and capacity needs, develops project scenario planning for decision-making
• Identify and implement program/project management best practices to facilitate a standard and coordinated set of project management tools across disciplines, functions and/or programs
• Raise project issues (in coordination with the team and project team leaders) with recommended action and alternative options to the executive committee for approval
• Work with C-suite and project teams to conduct periodic (2-3 times per year) portfolio review meetings to facilitate alignment and prioritization of the portfolio as well as key product or portfolio decisions
• Work with team to assesses project issues and develop solutions to meet project and corporate goals. As appropriate, raise recommended action to the executive committee for approval
 
 Job Requirements
• Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MS) preferred
• 10+ years of multi-disciplinary experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry with at least 7+ years direct program management in drug development (experience covering clinical, CMC and research/preclinical a big plus)
• Experience managing complex oncology program teams with success
• Strong knowledge of program management techniques and concepts as they apply to the drug development / pharmaceutical industry in matrix environment
• Ability to partner with Development Project Team Leaders to set vision and strategy for projects
• Proven track record of successfully managing large scale, global programs
• Broad drug development experience spanning with focus on IND enabling work and early clinical development
• Critical thinker with pragmatic approach to problem solving
• Exceptional project management skills
• Produces high quality development plans & governance documents
• Competent budget development and resource mapping
• Conducts well organized, productive, issue driven meetings
• Strong EQ with excellent interpersonal skills
• MS Project (or alternative project management software), Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc. in addition to general knowledge with shared work environments
