Lets do this. Lets change the world. Amgen is seeking a highly motivated Process Development Senior Associate to join our Process Development organization at our global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA.

  • The Senior Associate will support development of early phase cell culture, recovery, and purification processes for Amgens large molecule pipeline.
  • Responsibilities encompass both cell culture and purification process development and include cell line expansion, production bioreactor, harvest, clarification, chromatography, and/or filtration technologies as well as completing virus clearance studies.
  • The Senior Associate will work in a team environment, collaborating with various colleagues in process development.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Masters degree by time of hire OR
  • Bachelors degree and 2 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocessing, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or Biochemistry field
  • Ability to identify, develop and implement solutions to practical problems through application of fundamental scientific and engineering principles, preferably in a process development environment.
  • Basic understanding of protein chromatography, filtration or cell culture principles; hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, and/or purification operations is a plus.
  • Prior experience with data analytical tools (Excel, Spotfire, etc.) is preferred. Experience with statistical analysis and programming in JMP, R, and/or Python environments is a plus.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Team player with the ability to successfully work within a diverse team in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
  • Familiarity with design of experiments and statistical analysis of data desirable.
