FSS RTR Accounting Lead

Description

The Financial Shared Services (FSS) organization was established as a key AbbVie operating model to provide accurate financial accounting and reporting for all business organizations and to harmonize accounting processes. The FSS RTR Accounting Lead position will work closely with finance stakeholders across IT/Business Technology Services (BTS) and R&D functions to provide accounting support and participate in financial accounting decision-making process by collecting, analyzing, and reporting of financial data. One of the primary pillars of this role is to focus on individual business areas and generate accounting process improvement initiatives that deliver agility and efficiency to AbbVie Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the financial close process
  • Review balance sheet account reconciliations and drive continuous quality improvements
  • Assist with the Corporate balance sheet review process
  • Provide financial and accounting analysis involving complex transactions
  • Work in close partnership with the business partners to ensure that transactions follow accounting policies
  • Propose and implement initiatives aimed to improve efficiency in the financial process
  • Research and resolve discrepancies on technical accounting issues, as necessary
  • Assist in the preparation of audit evidence requests and all other projects assigned

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years of progressive Accounting or Finance with specific accounting experience related to closing the books and executing accounting judgments
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements

 

Preferred:

 

  • CPA preferred
  • Proficient in SAP and Blackline tool
  • Strong analytical skills – able to synergize data into information to make decisions, able to make recommendations and proposals
  • Good communication skills, able to partner with all levels of management and professionals within the company
  • Aptitude and strong desire for improving agility and executing continuous improvement
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities especially related to accounting decisions and judgments
  • Process focused with experience in implementing process improvements or change management initiatives
  • Customer service focused
