Position Summary & Role

Resilience is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Scientist to contribute to the development of next generation cell therapy analytical and manufacturing solutions, incorporating bleeding-edge technologies and scientific know-how to enable rapidly scalable and agile manufacturing of complex medicines. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in successfully developing existing and new analytical technologies/approaches to elevate scientific understanding of novel cell-based immunotherapies. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, they will help identify technical innovations, design, perform and support experiments using state-of-the-art approaches - integrating cutting edge technology, automation, and data science where appropriate. This role requires excellent communication and creativity, backed by a high level of velocity and rigor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional technology R&D projects. Prepare project & experimental plans with clear objectives, managed risks, and aligned timelines across Resilience R&D organization.

  • Provide subject-matter expertise on immune cell biology to support technology development and project decisions.

  • Support novel technology evaluation and development to address unique analytical and process challenges in cell therapy.

  • Identification and characterization of molecular biomarkers that correlate to T cell health, function and potency.

  • Develop, automate and oversee and resource fit-for-purpose analytical test methods to interrogate cell therapy critical quality attributes, including potency, identity, purity, quality, and strength.

  • Maintain a state-of-the-art knowledge on current methods and technologies, routinely monitoring new information sources in academic and trade literature and attending scientific conferences.

  • Coordinate and enable critical laboratory activities through proactive management of lab operations, equipment and materials.

  • Author and review process-related documentation such as SOPs, study protocols, technical reports, etc.

  • Communicate clear research aims, experimental designs and results to leadership in Resilience R&D and other stakeholders across the Resilience ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • Degree in immunology, molecular/cellular biology, biological science and/or bioengineering discipline with relevant industry experience, including cell therapy process development and/or immunology: PhD and 5+ years of relevant experience, Master’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.

  • Successful track record of developing innovative therapeutic technologies related cell and/or gene therapy, such as pre-clinical R&D, novel instrument design, or novel assay development.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, collaborating across multiple sites and stakeholders.

  • Effectively communicate and influence technical and non-technical stakeholders, team members and functional managers.

  • Interpersonal and enabling skills- proven ability to effectively build relationships and achieve alignment across a wide range of functions and constituents

  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism in a fast-moving start-up environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of T cell biology and experience with engineered cell therapy modalities (CAR-T, NK, iPSC, B, HSC, TIL).

  • Expertise in standard, in-process and advanced analytical techniques (ELISA, conventional PCR, ddPCR, cell-based assays, flow-cytometry, NGS, etc.)

  • General understanding of cell processing techniques, including cell separation, genetic modification (vector transduction and genomic editing), formulation, cryopreservation and cell culture.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, successfully integrate, and apply scientific and intellectual property literature, research data and technical input to meet program goals

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues & partners across a range of technical backgrounds, expertise, and geographic location.

  • Working knowledge of current and next-gen automation systems, bioinformatics, and machine learning as related to biology.
