What You Will Achieve

As the world’s leading pharmaceutical company, Pfizer is in the unique position of having some of the largest and most complex chemical and biological data sets available anywhere. The computational absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (cADME) group at Pfizer is responsible for maximizing the value of ADME, safety, and pharmacology data generated to support drug discovery project teams. We do this through the application of advanced machine learning and data mining methodologies to extract knowledge that is used to facilitate project team decision making across the drug discovery portfolio.

The cADME group is looking to add an outstanding Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) Engineer to help develop and maintain novel in silico tools, methodologies, and infrastructure for data mining and visualization. Your primary focus will be on choosing optimal software, architectural, and scientific solutions for these purposes and then implementing, maintaining, and monitoring them. Along with production level software experience, you should demonstrate solid data science knowledge and understanding.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Working with cADME colleagues, design and build MLOps systems, including data pipelines and production-level machine learning (ML) tools, interfaces, and infrastructure

  • Build tooling and data pipelines to process and format data from internal sources

  • Deploy ML models to production under the constraints of scalability, correctness, and maintainability

  • Build out and monitor pipelines for automated image builds, validating and testing models, monitoring data processes

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams of data scientists, engineers and chemists in building ML tools and infrastructure that supports the needs at Pfizer

  • Keep thorough documentation of all MLOps systems and train team members as needed



  • B.S with 2+ years of experience OR M.S. degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.

  • Experience developing machine learning processes using state-of-the-art tooling

  • Advanced proficiency with Python or similar language (Java). Ability to create abstractions, APIs, and libraries. Ability to deploy and support tools in the internal computing environment

  • Experience working with data structures and data modeling and dealing with large datasets

  • Working knowledge of SQL and practical experience extracting data from RDBS

  • Great communication and collaboration skills

Nice To Have:

  • Experience using DAGs to define data pipelines, e.g. Luigi, Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, Kubeflow

  • Extensive knowledge of a ML framework/library (e.g. scikit-learn, Torch, Tensorflow, transformers), data structures, data modeling, and software architecture

  • Experience with NoSQL systems (Couchbase, MongoDB)

  • Experience building and maintaining Linux servers and workstations

  • Production experience leveraging at least one cloud provider - e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure

  • Experience with chemistry and cheminformatics methods/techniques (e.g. computational structure handling and manipulation, descriptor calculation, structural similarity, etc.)


  • Lifting, sitting, walking, bending, ability to perform mathematical calculations, and ability to perform complex data analysis


  • Occasional travel
