Job Description


The Protein Therapeutics department is seeking an experienced Senior Research Scientist to join the Molecular Assessment team in Foster City, CA. The scientist will apply fit for purpose physicochemical analytical methods (including SEC, CE-SDS, RP, IEX, HIC, SINS, cIEF, DCS, DLS, nanoDSF, etc.) to characterize different biologic modalities including antibodies, bi/multi-specifics, protein-fusions, etc., to inform sequence optimization and support candidate(s) selection.

The successful candidate will be responsible for experimental planning, execution, data analysis and report communication with project teams and other stakeholders. In addition, he/she will proactively evaluate new technologies/assays and implement or optimize methods/workflows as needed.

He/She will manage a team of scientists and will report to the Director of Molecular Assessments team in Protein Therapeutics.

Minimum Education Requirements:

PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Analytical Chemistry or related field with minimal 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Required Experience:
  • Extensive hands-on experience on physicochemical characterization of biologics with solid understanding of protein chemistry/biochemistry, and structure.
  • Extensive experience with developability assessments, including stress studies, for sequence selection and optimization.
  • Experience managing and supervising junior scientists.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, meet deadlines, and prioritize work from multiple projects.
  • Technical writing skills and experience authoring reports, SOPs, regulatory filings, or other documents.


Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with high throughput analytical characterization platforms and structured data capturing and statistical analysis tools.
  • Experience with formulation screening of biologics.
  • Experience with antibody drug-conjugates (ADCs) analytical characterization.
