Research Associate, NGS Library Prep, Contractor

Element Biosciences, Inc is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and diagnostic markets.

Our Headquarter – San Diego site is looking for an energetic and talented individual to join the Genomic Applications Group.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will be executing experiments on NGS Library Prep assays, oligonucleotide quantification, DNA/RNA isolation, making buffers, etc. Keep lab records and collect data. The successful candidate will deliver high quality of library requested from internal groups in timely manner. Perform application assay evaluation with the guidance from supervisors. Be able to read through protocols to perform basic wet lab experiments independently.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

The ideal candidate will have the following background/skill set but not limited:

• Pay attention to details.
• High accuracy in working document and experiment data.
• Hands on experience with NGS Library Prep workflow, Library QC, PCR and qPCR workflow, SPRI clean-up, DNA/RNA extraction and quantification, etc.
• Hands on experience with nanodrop, gel electrophoresis, PCR/qPCR instrument, plate reader, and other standard bio-lab equipment.
• Familiar with NGS sequencing technology.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• BS+. in Molecular biology, Biochemistry, protein chemistry and chemical engineering or a related discipline, Title is based on background and industry experience.
• 1+ years NGS library prep wet lab experience.
