The Role:

The Senior Director of Investor Relations will report to the SVP, Investor Relations and be responsible for developing key communications strategies to address the investor community and shape cohesive communication plans as part of a cross-functional team. This role will be responsible for executing and owning strategic investor relations strategy as well as for developing and maintaining relationships with analysts and fund managers in their respective investorcategory(ie:Sovereign Wealth Fundsand ESG Investor Categories,orPension and Endowment Funds,orHedge funds +Retail, or Long Only Mutual Fund Investor). This is a highly visible and critical role that will partner and collaborate with Modernas Executive Leadership Team, Corporate Communications, Finance, Clinical, Commercial, and Legal functions to ensure we are building and articulating our story in support of our market-leading business and scientific objectives

Heres What Youll Do:

  • Develop, implement, and manage a strategic plan for Modernas short-term and long-term investor relations strategy

  • Lead planning and develop content, in collaboration with the IR Team, for key announcements and disclosures, including quarterly financial results conference calls with a focus on the rare genetic disease and early research programs

  • Create and manage of all IR core materials including review and approval of corporate presentations, press releases, conference call scripts and Q&A documents

  • Provide practical and meaningful Investor Relations support to management, including counseling and advising executives regarding investor events

  • Ensure timely input, participation, and internal alignment in highly complex IR strategies and activities

  • Collaborate closely with Corporate Communications to ensure a consistent message on branding and strategy

  • Executeand ownstrategic investor relations strategy in your investorcategory(ie:Sovereign Wealth Fundsand ESG Investor Categories,orPension and Endowment Funds,orHedge funds +Retail, or Long Only Mutual Fund Investor)

  • Track all analyst models and consensus estimates

  • Provide Regulation Fair Disclosure training to all appropriate company spokespersons

  • Maintain and communicate competitive intelligence and analysis on industry peers to leadership team to shape informed market strategies

  • Develop and maintain relationships with analysts and fund managers in your focus investor category (ie: Sovereign Wealth Fundsand ESG Investor Categories, or Pension and Endowment Funds, or Hedge funds +Retail, or Long Only Mutual Fund Investor)

  • Conduct in-person meetings with investors. Act as a corporate liaison to institutional investors and analysts; and collaborate internally and externally to deliver on functional and corporate goals

  • Provide accurate, consistent and timely responses to inquiries from investors and analysts; anticipate potential inquiries and objections from external parties

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

  • BA or BS required; MBA or MD/PhD or other technical degree is a plus

  • 15+ years of preferred relevant work experience, with a demonstrated understanding of the biotechnology industry (pharmaceutical or biotech company experience is essential?)

  • 10+ years of direct investor finance experience

  • Outstanding communication skills and experience delivering clear messaging of scientific and clinical topics, as well as financial data, across a variety of audiences

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline line driven environment

  • Ability to interact with senior management and manage the communication of sensitive and confidential information

  • Knowledge of SEC regulatory requirements and disclosures

  • Product launch experience in a publicly traded company is strongly preferred

  • Proven ability to maintain and grow relationships with the investment community

  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to work with others and integrate him/herself smoothly into the broader organization
