Job Details

The VelociGene CRISPR Technology and In Vivo Engineering group is dedicated to driving the discovery of new technologies and optimizations that increase the efficiency of precise gene editing. We are seeking a temporary research associate to join our group for a 9-month period. We are willing to train on any skills related to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic and advanced cell biology tasks including routine culture of mammalian cell lines and primary cells, transfection and viral transduction, CRISPR-associated techniques.
  • Assist in molecular biology techniques including DNA, RNA and protein extraction, molecular cloning, PCR, Western blotting, DNA gels.
  • Assist in different cell characterization assays including flow cytometry, cytotoxicity testing, immunofluorescence.
  • Accurately and timely record, document, analyze and communicate laboratory data to senior staff and team members.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field and 2-4 years of laboratory research experience. 
  • Experience working with mammalian cell culture and common cell-based characterization assays such as cell counting, cell proliferation and toxicity assays is required.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques such as plasmid construction, molecular cloning, sequence analysis (PCR, NGS, etc…), western blotting is desirable.
  • Experience in flow cytometry and immunofluorescence is desirable.
  • Experience and/or willingness to work with in vivo mouse model is preferred.
  • Ability to learn quickly, follow laboratory procedures with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date electronic lab records.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
