ROLE SUMMARY
The US Rare Endocrine and Neurology franchise is one of the most rapidly growing businesses across Pfizer Biopharma, with 60% 3-year CAGR, and a stellar pipeline including two breakthrough asset launches (“25 by 2025”) in the next 2 years. The team is progressing launch readiness efforts for Pfizer’s very first gene therapy medicine in a “Create” market, currently in late-stage (Phase 3) development for treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Fordadistrogene movaparvovec is truly a breakthrough medicine with potential to transform treatment of DMD, a rare and fatal neurological condition affecting young boys, currently with no effective treatment options.
US DMD Gene Therapy Marketing Director, Market Development will play a mission-critical role leading market development efforts for Pfizer’s first gene therapy launch in DMD. DMD is a nascent market with limited care infrastructure due to lack of effective treatment options. Complexity of the novel Gene therapy treatment pathway and high urgency to treat the DMD patient bolus necessitates the creation of a new treatment paradigm and rapid build-up/scale-up of care infrastructure. Primary responsibility of this role will be to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for market development to establish a well-connected ecosystem of care including treatment and referring centers, and optimize treatment infrastructure for seamless patient management across the continuum of care. The Director will coordinate all efforts to lead development of care infrastructure in close collaboration with the US and Global DMD Gene therapy marketing and broader cross-functional teams.
This position requires senior level commercial expertise, exceptional strategic planning and cross-functional leadership skills, change agility and experience in developing innovative solutions launching into novel therapeutic areas. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong strategic, analytical, execution and decision-making skills, a problem-solving mindset and proven track record of fostering exemplary cross-functional collaboration and delivering exceptional results. This position will report to the US Rare Disease Neurology & Endocrine Franchise Lead.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Key role responsibilities include:
Lead market development strategy for Pfizer’s first Gene Therapy (GTx) in DMD with a focus on first-time creation of end-to-end GTx treatment infrastructure
Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to identify, develop and orchestrate execution of key strategies and solutions to establish a novel ecosystem of care for DMD GTx patients
Support development of referral networks ensuring connectivity across Gene Therapy infusion centers (GIC) and referring centers, and enabling patients to navigate through the GTx journey seamlessly
Develop strategies and lead execution of tactics to ensure capacity to treat bolus of patients, enable GIC readiness, and provide broad, rapid, and seamless access to GTx
Unlock opportunities for optimal treatment pathway with DMD Gene Therapy (GTx) across the care continuum including eligibility, GTx choice, access to treatment site, reimbursement, treatment initiation and follow-up
Lead data and insights generation in tight collaboration with Medical, Business Analytics and Insights and HEOR teams to inform formation of the care model based on customer insights
Collaborate with the SAS team with the goal of optimizing treatment infrastructure and GIC readiness in care network
Define companion diagnostic strategy for GTx eligibility testing and ensure seamless integration into patient journey
Implement innovative digital solutions in support of GIC readiness and care journey integration
Develop novel platform to facilitate end-to-end GTx training with all key stakeholders at the treatment and referring centers
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree required, MBA or other advanced degree highly desirable
10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience including marketing/healthcare consulting required
Previous product launch and in-line US Marketing experience preferred
Experience in Rare Disease/Specialty highly desirable
Demonstrated success in developing, executing and measuring commercial plans and complex initiatives
Track record of innovation and leadership
Demonstrated leadership of cross functional matrix teams: Influences without formal authority, understands role/ position in the wider context; builds and maintains strong relationships of trust; able to influence without authority to set joint goals and share lessons learned; experience working in large organization across multiple functional partner lines
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with varied internal stakeholders to identify key customer insights and translate into actionable strategies
Solid business acumen and organizational skills with excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including senior management
Strong analytical and strategic planning skills; detail and action oriented
Self-motivated and a team player
Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver results on multiple, complex, competing projects in a deadline-oriented environment

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Occasional domestic travel anticipated for RC or team meetings, agency presentations, training, POAs, congresses and KOL meetings.
