Role Summary

Reports directly to Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) Site Lead, CT. Uses education and judgment in the provision of leadership to the Maintenance and Building Management System Teams.

 

Provides vision and direction for maintenance operations and projects . Develops a team that executes this vision. Leads site effort in regulated and non-regulated space to perform reliability-based maintenance function.

Executes equipment inspection and monitoring programs. Defines and implements maintenance best practices to improve overall mechanical equipment uptime. Continuously evaluates current maintenance, operations and reliability methods and implements changes to enhance effectiveness at increasing value maximizing performance.

 

This position provides direction and leadership in the following areas:

  • Ensuring maintenance safety

  • Customer interface and support

  • Expense budget creation and execution

  • Planning/Scheduling optimization

  • Regulated space maintenance & calibrations

  • Contract Maintenance

  • Automation support for chiller plant operations targeting efficiency and optimal uptime

  • Providing leadership in driving Reliability Centered Maintenance best practices

 

The incumbent is responsible for, and will provide assistance to specific customer requests in support of equipment utilization and some business process improvements.

 

Role Responsibilities

The position will:

  • Develop and manage operating budgets for the department.

  • Oversee the daily prioritization and execution of facility related work orders to minimize equipment and facility downtime

  • Manage the Workplace Operations Lead team

    • Provide performance evaluation and management for all colleagues under direct supervision

  • Manage the Hard Services contract, valued at ~$10M/year, for all facility maintenance in Groton and New Haven

    • Lead periodic Key Performance Indicator sessions to ensure that the contracted provider is meeting expectations, and when indicated develop action plans for performance improvement

  • Manage training compliance for Pfizer FTE’s and the hard services provider

    • Identifies training gaps to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

  • Periodically evaluate maintenance skills training and implement Maintenance Continues Improvement actions to ensure the required skill sets for the site are met..

  • Oversee facility maintenance compliance in regulated spaces such as Comparative Medicine (labs and Vivaria) and Clinical Trial Manufacturing (PSSM)

    • Manages the coordination process between the customer and provider to minimize downtime

  • Maintain knowledge of current and new reliability methodologies and technologies and implementing process changes and improvements where applicable to a site operations.

  • Lead the incident investigation, corrective action identification and event close out process for Facility related events in Medgate

  • Establish and maintain effective -way communications with and between team members, customers and the hard services provider .

  • Must be able to: 1) conceptualize an issue, 2) develop an action plan to address the issue, and 3) execute the plan.

  • Ability to create or embrace a vision and inspire others to meet organizational goals. Has experience in change management.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • BS degree with 5 years experience in an Engineering, Computer Sciences, or related discipline.

  • Equivalent education and experience in related disciplines will also be considered

  • Experience with direct repair and/or maintenance of facilities, building automation systems or complex laboratory equipment is desired

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing and process control operations is desirable.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Facility Management with an advanced degree in Engineering or Management.

  • CMRP, CFM or Professional Designation is preferred.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-10 years experience in Facility Management or Facility Operations Support in a pharmaceutical, healthcare, semiconductor or food processing facility.

  • Demonstrable leadership experience in progressive positions of at least manager/senior manager level.

  • Experience in providing high-level management maintenance support for laboratory, clinical animal facilities, and/or utility operations.
